Ed i know that there has been a lot of posts on fridays news, but what re your views of any potential league title being stripped from city?

do you agree with this? and do you think it should just be a year with no winner or handed to second place.

whilst it can be seen as unfair being beaten by a team who have cheated to win, i wouldn't want to be handed a title by default.

{Ed001's Note - I can understand the thinking of stripping them, I think they should just to deter others from cheating, if they are found guilty of course. However I don't agree with just giving them to others. It wouldn't feel like it was won fair and square.}

Agree0 Disagree0

similar to the Astros cheating scandal, they should strip them off their titles and vacate them.

{Ed025's Note - and award them to liverpool i suppose faith, then the great stevie G can claim that elusive title winning medal he always wanted....wheres that bleedin sick bucket?.. :)

16 Feb 2020 11:16:39
Didn’t inter Milan get a few titles given to them after Juventus were stripped? Part of me would like the titles but forever more manu fans would be singing that we never won them.

16 Feb 2020 11:28:19
I think they should be stripped of the titles they won while cheating, seems only fair.
Then the second placed teams should be declared champions for them years. It would be nothing to celebrate though of course.
I seem to remember similar happening years ago in Italy when a few teams where found out to be cheating and got titles stripped.

{Ed025's Note - i need another sick bucket...and a big one now..

16 Feb 2020 11:33:33
I was literally going to type the same question Southern . I think Juve had thier titles stripped when they were punished for different reasons and they were handed to the second place teams. I agree totally with Ed001 though, I wouldn't want Liverpool to be handed the 2014 title, I would just erase it and say no over all winner. there's no honour in winning a title because the team above you was deemed to have broken rules. And not the players who played the games mind, the people that ran the club.

16 Feb 2020 11:37:22
Should just go down as no winner imo. You can’t celebrate it and it would be tarnished as winning by default.

16 Feb 2020 11:46:52
I can’t see there is a point in it they celebrated winning it it’s all over now it’s just goes on the record but they joy of winning is not there. Saying that drugs cheats at the olympics can lose there gold medals years later as cheating is cheating but I would not want the title like that us fans would get more stick for claiming that than chucking one away.

{Ed002's Note - So if they opened up all of Liverpool's past transgressions and the payments made to other clubs and one individual from the slush fund, you would be happy with that?}

16 Feb 2020 12:20:34
Personally, I want absolutely nothing to do with City's 2014 title should they be stripped of it. We should have won the title that year and we have only ourselves to blame for that.

16 Feb 2020 12:57:21
I get what some of you are saying but the thought of us doing a treble of league titles in one year is too funny to pass up.

16 Feb 2020 13:20:36
I would feel sick too, that BR is the 1st Liverpool manager to win the PL via some arbitrary means.

Strip city of the title, sure, if that is what the authorities decide. And just leave it as that. Won’t want some arbitrary means of winning it.

16 Feb 2020 14:31:44
I think it would be pretty classless to strip the City players of the title, in reality they earned it by playing the best football that season. A European ban on the other hand makes sense, no Champs league and a couple of their better players potentially leaving is punishment enough.

16 Feb 2020 13:55:47
Wouldn't want any of those titles and I don't want them banned. They will be able to focus on league.

16 Feb 2020 15:06:49
I'd still take it, the league that is. If they cheated to beat us then it's only fair that we get the title. I wouldn't complain if it was the other way around (well I probably would a bit, but) I remember Linford Christine's Olympic bronze getting upgraded to silver and it felt like justice.

16 Feb 2020 17:10:35
Think athletics is different in that it’s the individual who cheats, none of the city players did and were the best over 38 games.

16 Feb 2020 17:24:42
A good point wyred.

16 Feb 2020 16:37:17
ed002 am sure I said I would not want the league like that for me once is gone its gone. this year is a joy to watch to win the league and it would have been back then but we did not so its over.

{Ed002's Note - The issue is about opening old woulds.}

16 Feb 2020 22:47:03
If it happens and we get the 2014 title (I really can't see that happening) I personally wouldn't count it or celebrate it.

16 Feb 2020 23:03:53
I can’t believe some are saying we should be given titles. Regardless of what the club have done financially it’s 11 blokes against 11 blokes and they were better than us. We earned nothing so we should get nothing.

By all means punish them if they have to but you can’t reward us for ultimately finishing second! It would put us level with Utd on 20 titles but we didn’t actually win 2 of them? Nah, you can’t be doing that it’s ridiculous!

16 Feb 2020 11:59:18
Ed025 love your banter mate. I’d probably keep that bucket though as Everton seem to be in the same boat as City and that boat is sinking quickly. You might need that bucket to scoop all the water out 😂.

{Ed025's Note - love it JK..

16 Feb 2020 22:36:27
25, you'll drown yourself alive with that bitter juice you sipping mate lol I said vacate, that just means strip their name from the record books and leave it at that. Don't award to the second place team. I rekon that's naff.

{Ed025's Note - i dont get FFP at all faith, the best team wins the league and thats it, so man city have spent more money than the rest...so what!, if i can afford a nicer car than my neighbour then whats wrong with that?, its just jealousy in my book mate..

17 Feb 2020 04:21:34
If the game is simply 11 blokes vs 11 blokes regardless of what’s done financially then why even have FFP? It appears City had an unfair advantage that year so strip them of the title.

17 Feb 2020 09:11:00
Why should we not get the 2014 title if they are stripped of it? they got it by cheating. They paid transfer fees for players that played that season by cheating while FSG stayed within rules.

Its only fair we get the title, rules are explained to everyone.

Fernandinho 40 million euros
Navas 20 million euros
Negredo 24 million euros

Just to name a few.

They would probably not win the title if they were not able to get those players any a few before them.

{Ed001's Note - they might not have but they also might well have won it. Unless it is match fixing that has been found, I don't see why titles should be stripped.}

17 Feb 2020 23:29:51
I don't think they should be stripped of the titles, however of they are found guilty they do need to be punished.
What about point deductions for future seasons or them be relegated. Are they viable options?

{Ed002's Note - The PL will need to be very careful about what the decide to do and how far they are prepared to go. They will discuss the potential can of worms and don’t forget they could end up with all clubs voting. They have no evidence to look at and what evidence there is relates to UEFA and not the PL. If they were to extrapolate the findings of UEFA (which could go on for a long time before confirmed post appeal and could have a crippling impact on UEFA and hasten a breakaway - even if it ends up being FIFA run, then they are open to major issues going forward.}
