If this summer we could maybe get in Cantwell to replace Lallana, Werner to replace Shaqiri, and Diego Carlos to replace Lovren then that will do me. Not interested in mega deals like Mbappe, Dembele or Sancho. Stick to what we're good at.

Agree5 Disagree1

I'm with you mate. You can get all the expensive stuffings, the artisan toppings, and the fancy names, in the end plain bread is best.

20 Feb 2020 14:29:15
Still don't see the harm in getting someone like Sancho who could be one of the best around for the next 10 years "IF"Klopp wants him and it's in anyway possible.

20 Feb 2020 14:31:40
Whilst I mostly agree with what you guys saying, I would love to see a Havertz sign for us in the summer. Obvs if we loose any of the starting 11 would hope they would he replaced but Havertz added to what we got would be great in my opinion.

20 Feb 2020 14:34:23
If we could get Werner I would be happy, obviously by far the hardest to convince to come and fight for a place. Lallana has hardly played and Lovren is a very good 4th choice CB. If he wants to stay I see no need to push him out the door.

20 Feb 2020 14:53:07
I like cantwell but he's nowhere near an inform Adam lallana. Yet. I agree with the other two totally. I don't think we need a lallana replacement, minamino is an upgrade in that position (his former position as an am, not a no6)

"Not interested in mega deals"

I suggest you have a quick chat with Ed002 about the amounts being talked about for Werner and Diego Carlos (and even Cantwell) before you start suggesting that these wouldn't be "mega deals".

I suspect 2 of them would probably break our current transfer record.

20 Feb 2020 15:23:16
I’d be still in the market for someone who can at least keep Mane and Salah on their toes. Divok miles better through the middle. Mini and Ox are not wide players imo. We need someone with lightning pace who can play either flank and come in naturally so our style doesn’t change. The problem is Mo and Sadio are that good, it’s hardly attractive for a player trying to compete for places vs them 2! Also a back up left back.

By mega deal I meant a super high profile transfer where there will be £300-500k a week contracts, 9 figure transfer fees, a player moving from one European heavyweight to another, and huge involvement from agents.

I doubt Werner or Carlos would cost much more than £70m each and I doubt they are expecting wages over £200k a week.

For me, our strength is built on unity. Bringing in a kid unproven in the Prem and putting them straight in as our highest earner sounds like a ticking time bomb.

Don't know if that makes more sense. I don't really class any 8 figure tranafer fee or 5 figure salary as a mega deal. Sad that football has come to that though.

20 Feb 2020 15:53:02
Surely Curtis Jones can take lallanas place in the squad rather then buying Cantwell.

20 Feb 2020 15:54:13
Which of them is going to cost 75mil+ reddawn? Werner perhaps but the others, no way. I don't see us spending big on another cb, gomez is great. Matip is more than capable.

20 Feb 2020 15:31:05
We don't need to replace Shaqiri, he hardly played this year, and for his cameos I would rather Elliot get a chance .
I do think we are in some kind of talk about Werner, but I would expect him to replace one of the main front 3 possibly Mane.

20 Feb 2020 19:15:32
PB, Cantwell is not good enuff to play for LFC right now, IMO. I'd rather give Curtis Jones Lallana's spot cos he has earned it, IMO rather than give it to some 30m- rated big fish in a tiny pond like Cantwell at Norwich.

20 Feb 2020 19:32:11
Cantwell could take both Lallana and Shaqiris place in the squad, both never play and are of the age that they are not likely going to get fit and at their best ever again.

20 Feb 2020 19:57:27
If we had to replace one of the front three, to be honest I think my choice would be Salah, not hating on him or bashing him, I just believe Sadio and Bobby are better all round footballers and would be a bigger all round loss.

20 Feb 2020 20:02:12
I'd sell Keita to play Jones a bit more personally. However remember Jones is only 19. In 2 years time when he turns 21, Hendo / Gini will be winding down and Milner will most likely be gone. There is no pressure to rush him into regular football. Same goes for Elliot. He's 16. He can replace Salah or Mane in 4 years maybe but don't put that kind of stock in him yet. We don't want another Harry Wilson who fails to fulfil his potential because he got given too much too soon.

I do take the point regarding game time though, thinking about it. If we did land Werner and Cantwell we would probably be wise to move Origi on too. We don't want a situation like at City were people are fussing over game time.

On Cantwell, I saw someone say he is a big fish in a small pond but I totally disagree. I think he's got a little bit of something special about him. I think Klopp could turn him into a monster.

20 Feb 2020 20:55:27
I can see mane leaving too. All this real Madrid talk must have some legs. But I think he'll regret it.

20 Feb 2020 21:48:39
Lack of really good and consistent midfield creativity is probably the one area that Klopp has not addressed sufficiently well since he's come, in my opinion. He's sorted our defense and attack issues superbly. So my vote goes for Havertz. It doesn't stop à Cantwell joining, or Jones developing, because Lallana will leave this summer and Milner, the next. I think the Grujic boat has already sailed given his work permit issues, and that an English player will join one way or another given the two possible homegrown departures (Lallana and Milner) in up to two years.

20 Feb 2020 22:51:57
ArAy, I don't have time to watch any of Europes other leagues nowadays so if I'm honest I've never seen Havertz play other than highlights. He looks good though.

21 Feb 2020 04:05:11
Have none of ye seen havertz this season who call for us to break the bank for a player who's form is miles away from last season. His previous reputation is conning many into believing he's a ready made world star instead of an inconsistent young prospect which he is yet.

21 Feb 2020 11:12:17
Plain Bread. I've watched only a couple of games, but I'm convinced he's worth investing in. Perhaps not at the numbers being touted (I'll leave that to Michael Edwards), but he's basically a very talented AM/ CM with a lot of potential. He passes both the short and long ball accurately, he can dribble and he's the man who sits between the two lines and feeds the front forwards- something Ox and Keita are not able to do on a consistent enough basis, but which Henderson does when moved up. You could say a much younger version of Ruben Neves of Wolves, that needs polishing of some of the rough edges. He's tall, and once he fills up that thin frame with age, he'll also be an imposing figure in the middle of the park like a Matic or Rodri. He's been moved back to CM this season from his usual AM position so he's not scored as many goals or been seen as equally effective as last year (read the ranting post above), but that's football; team needs come first. I rate him highly only because of the fact that he provides great through balls on a consistent basis; something our midfield badly needs. Some say that Curtis Jones could also fulfil all of that. It's a matter of personal preference . A home grown 19 year old player with experience only at the U23 level (Jones) or a 20 year old (Havertz) with 4 years experience in the Bundesliga already.

21 Feb 2020 22:30:01
ArAy1969 you refer to my "Rant" but then give an analysis of the player very far from accurate, he hasn't been in a deep CM role more this season like you claim, in fact he's playing more often from the right and behind the striker than he did last season when Brandt was playing alongside him. I do think he's an excellent talent but thinking he's going to be a ready made success in what you seem to think we lack is far from guaranteed.

These killer balls and assists you expect? 2 assists this year, 3 assists last year. Most of our midfield players easily provide more than that so I don't see how you base that argument. And to actually compare him with neves, rodri or matic is far from accurate.

Don't get me wrong the lad is a great prospect but for £100mil I think you'd need a better suited formation to see him succeed than our midfield is.

Remember guys like ozil, isco, gotze, nasri, Ben arfa, Oscar, Rodriguez, renato Sanches and recently dembele and Felix. Those were all regarded as the hottest talent around world football after a year or 2 at similiar age and for 100mil I want to be bringing in proven world class talent instead of risking that kind of money on a player who's career can easily drift down a path like the ones I listed above. He's been poor for the first half of the season that's common knowledge from anyone who's followed German football so I'm just unsure if he's worth it for a position were not even struggling in to upgrade.
