We need more creativity in midfield that is obvious, someone who can pick a pass shoot from range an dictate play, I would love ruben neves in the next window for me closest thing too xabi Alonso . The front 3 has been together now 3 seasons there is a danger of becoming stale and I can't help feeling we could do with a predator up front bobby is great without doubt but is not prolific . I have a feeling something will give with front 3 I think 1 or 2 will leave of the trio .

{Ed047's Note - but I thought you’d all said you didn’t need upgrades and no one would come to be an understudy? 🤷‍♂️

Agree1 Disagree1

But here's the thing Ed all the great teams like Man. Utd every season they brought in 2/ 3 player's to keep the squad fresh and that's how they stayed on top and that's what all top teams do. If Liverpool are to stay on top they need to keep the squad fresh. Now I know they didn't get any player's in and maybe that was an exception.

{Ed047's Note - I said it on here the other day Barry, you’ve got to keep evolving, you can’t think for a minute you’ve made it.

Your squad, despite how well you’ve performed this season, still has a lot of room for improvement and that’s what you have to do.

City will be back even stronger next season and having got where you are you don’t want to drop off a cliff.

I can only spk for myself an I have always thought the squad could be stronger, our midfield lacks creativity, lovren is untrustworthy plus other defenders are injury prone, left back cover, also no real alternative who is a genuine threat too bobby, I ain't criticising here just seriously observing, a lot of teams would love too be in our shoes .

{Ed047's Note - they would mate but that doesn’t mean you stand still, you add quality, you keep building, you stay at the top.

You don’t take your foot of the gas

Hailstones, it's the same old story with this whole "we need more creativity" schtick each time we don't win a game. It was the same old stuff after the Athletico game. How have we scored the truck load of goals we have scored in the past two years without a recognized no. 10 exactly? We have lost 2 out of the past 66 PL games so in your view, we did not need a no. 10 for the 64 games we mostly won BUT need a no. 10 for the two we have lost? That makes no sense, man.

We are having a dip in form and performances over the past 4 games and that much is clear. A no. 10 won't change any of that and NEVER has since Cou thankfully left. We have lost 2 PL games out of the last 66 so please, it ain't that big a deal. We go back to the basics. We learn from the loss and get better cos we are in a slump, performance-wise. That's it, IMO. Nothing more.

{Ed047's Note - good luck with not improving your squad then Red

01 Mar 2020 20:57:58
Yes I agree ed totally I felt even in summer window we could of really stole a march on everyone with bruno Fernandes, a left back, and a goalscorer, I am proud our team is in this position it is now trusting the squad, but time waits for no one and teams can strengthen in a heartbeat, I think our team needs perking up for definite in next window . I hate too say it but it will be hard too dominate in seasons too come unless we are on our toes on an off the pitch .

{Ed047's Note - definitely mate, sitting on their laurels and ceasing to improve their squad saw the end of United's dominance

01 Mar 2020 21:20:58
Ok red, it's a matter of opinion and mine is there is room for improvement as brilliant as we have been, it's not just about a number 10, it's about being better than the competition on a consistent level and this squad has areas for improvement in order too stay on top.

01 Mar 2020 21:29:07
There is no way this is an issue just for the last 4 games. Go back read the reports from the start of the season / over Xmas. It’s like Groundhog Day each week but we’ve managed to get the results. Look at the performances. This team will go down as legends with a champions league and hopefully premier league but thankfully Klopp has been looking at the performances over the season and will know we need reinforcements next year. Ed47 is spot on.

I think its just about keeping things ticking over. Keeping it fresh, introducing competition for players, bring in players before the established pro’s get too old and they all need replacing all at once; which as someone noted, is where united went wrong. It is essential we keep the squad refreshed and bring people in before other players inevitably leave; Minamino is a good step in the right direction, as would signings such as Werner and Diego Carlos. Sancho may be a pipe dream but dream i can. If Keita was to leave then Niguez would be a fantastic signing to come into the midfield with Henderson, Wijnaldum and Milner all getting on a bit now.

01 Mar 2020 22:53:03
We have an excellent number 10, Sadio Mane . Scored enough without creativity, just persistence, hard work and implementing the manager's plan that never relied on a number 10 . Many will agree we playing much better since Couts gone . because we don't rely on one player to create, we play and invent as a team . for goodness sake, our first defeat comes in end of February, we already broke all sorts of records and we'll be breaking more . and some people still think they know better than Klopp . learn to be gracious in defeat.

01 Mar 2020 23:09:06
I kinda agree about a creative midfielder. But that said, I don't think milner and hendo get enough credit for their creative capabilities. I also think it would've been a real kick in the teeth to get rid of origi after his exploits last season.

Bobby might not be prolific but our wingers are and a large part of that is down to firmino, he's also a big reason why we have made do without a no10. Werner would be a great addition and I believe he AND our front 3 can play on the same team.

We are going to see some additions in the summer. Cb, lb, am and St. I don't want it to happen but might be origi's last season. Unless Brewster makes way for a striker.

01 Mar 2020 23:43:37
I am extremely gracious in defeat watford thoroughly deserved the we didn't deserve jack Diddley sqwat.

02 Mar 2020 08:39:02
I like ED047 comments, we need to add but not because someone is leaving.
If we don't add player to strengthen our squad, those we have at some point will get tired due to playing regularly.

02 Mar 2020 16:42:08
Spot on, Roy. Ed02, my point is that people banging on about "we have to improve the team". Err, you think, Sherlock? Of course we need to improve or what would Minamino be doing here? That is not the point some of us are making. What I am saying is that it is high time for people to stop throwing the baby out with the bath water or stop with the hindsight genius schtick of "We could/ should/ would have bought X player" in the summer and all that stuff on the odd occasion that we don't win, as if Klopp doing what I want will guarantee victory.

Ed02 said repeatedly that we tried to sign players but would not come cos they did not think they would start for us here. Yet people let that piece of info fly over their heads as if that never happened. Then on the odd occasion that we lose, they pull the same old, tired narrative out as if they are smarter than Klopp who chose to go with who he had and is about to win the PL by not signing a soul.

We hare going thru a slump and we lost one game out of 28 and our second defeat in 66 PL games. I ain't sweating it, man and I don't intend to. We learn from the game, get better and work harder to play better in the next game. No more, no less, IMO.
