Hi Ed001, just to move away from the heartache of last night; I remember maybe 3 seasons ago you pointed out that Bobby‘s vision and passing were at a different level but it wasn’t apparent since teammates were not in the same wavelength. I was just wondering if the same is happening with Minamino, in a sense that the team is still not used to his give n go style?

{Ed001's Note - to a degree yes, he is making movement but often not being noticed. He did link up quite well on the left last night a couple of times, but other than that never really got a chance to show if they were getting used to him. Speaking of Bobby, his movement was in large part responsible for the amount of space we got last night to attack them.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on, Ed. in the fist half, Bobbie was dropping deep on the right which allowed Salah, Ox and TAA a lot of space on the overload and that is where Ox had a tonne of joy. The gaps that were opening up on that side were immense esp. on the first goal where Saul had been helping out but even he could not match the pressure we put on that side of their defence.

I also think Bobbie was struggling to get a hold of the ball esp. with the way AM were playing him BUT credit to the lad for never giving up, never sulking nor let his head drop. He was a constant menace esp. when dropping deep to orchestrate and help get us going. And when his goal came, he took it with calmness and aplomb on the rebound. Great player and a Meantality Monster.

{Ed001's Note - sometimes it is more about what he does when he doesn't have the ball, even on days when he is poor on it he usually makes up for it with his off the ball work.}

I must admit i have been advocating for some personal changes but last night showed me that we have a top class first 11.
There is no player in world football who can replace any of our team players.
That was the best I've seen our front 3 play.
It hurts but im proud of the game play and commitment.
We go again.

Thanks Ed. I’m just curious how it’d look if both the Minos play together; should make for some sublime link up play. Hopefully he gets to play more of the PL games from now to get used to it more.

{Ed001's Note - that would be exciting.}

Decelticon, I have to disagree on your view that there isn't a player who would replace any of our first eleven. All about opinion, of course.

Rome 1977, there is no player out there who can replace Bobbie and I mean FULLY replace him based on everything he does for the team with or w/ o the ball, as Ed01 and many others have described on here. Nobody, IMO. Now, if you think someone else out there can do that then let me know and we can discuss it. Peace and Love, my friend.

I love the way he plays with his back to defenders. The way he turns them. So clever. His goal should have taken us through.

Red Meister, I never mentioned Firmino. I would name De Bruyne and Mbappe as 2 players who would improve our team. In the history of football there has never been a perfect team. I'm sure Jurgen and his team are working on improving our starting 11 as we speak. Whether getting those players is achievable is another matter.

I don't think replacing bobby is the answer but I do think a plan b is required when our current system isn't working against certain teams athletico aren't the only team we have struggled to break down in these circumstances there has to be a style of play that opens them up another formation something that a player can offer that our current squad are missing.
