Hi Ed001, hope your keeping well and safe mate given the current situation in the euros and the UK.

Wanted your thoughts please if you think the leagues will get finished this season or scrapped? Not holding you to it. I've read Ed002 detailed point of view and wanted yours please. Is there enough time left if we started out in early June?

{Ed001's Note - I think we have to accept the season will be over.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Fair enough mate. devastated but some things are bigger than football.

{Ed001's Note - look at it this way, if it does restart in time, then it is a bonus.}

So Indefinitely really means end of June?

If it were to be over (and I think there’s still a slim chance it may re-start) there’s no way we can accept the proposal laid out by Ed002?

Lmao that Ed025 has to chip in. One measure for everyone, if you’re going to start predicting outcomes then Liverpool must be champions.

I guess if it does start in time Ed there is always an outside chance. Not getting my hopes up though. Keep safe mate.

{Ed001's Note - you too mate. Best way is not to get your hopes up on anything. Then you don't get too disappointed if things don't happen but if they do you get to enjoy them much more and appreciate the moment.}

Who provided that proposal anyway? Is that from a club/ governing body?

I can't see it coming back this season either ed001. the players have had a few weeks off that they would probably request a mini preseason to get back in to it. There is no way games can be behind closed doors as football fans will just get together in large groups causing stress on NHS etc. So I just don't see how it will work from a logistics standpoint.

When it is confirmed its over the rival fans will be unbearable and it will be worse that a ridiculously dominant PL season will go down as effectively nothing.

however, they did the right thing as if games still went ahead I think we would be in a much worse off position in terms of deaths.

From a football standpoint they will just brush themselves down and go again but just proves once and for all nothing is won until you get over the line.

{Ed001's Note - I did say that all along when everyone was telling me it was done! Nothing is done until it is over. Right now we have more important things to worry about than footie, sadly. Once this is all sorted out, then we can see where we stand and what to do about things like sport. Right now it really is a minor issue, at most.}

Completely agree ed001, all we can do at the minute is take a day at a time and see where we are when this is all over. Hopefully all with a clean bill of health.

{Ed001's Note - and if the league has to be scrapped, then we just have to accept it. There is certainly no reason to award us anything, no matter how harsh it may feel. It is like a 400m race where everyone else fell at 200m but we made it 350m before falling. That doesn't make us winners either. It just means we got closer than the rest. I don't understand why anyone would want the title under those circumstances.}

I agree with your analogy if it were to end like that. But the proposal is not, it’s an arbitrary decision and therein lies the problem.

Just a pointer regarding games were to be played behind closed doors. I think with everything going on, and to come, if people had the option to carry on being safe or gathering together and risk illness/ deaths on themselves and others they would likely not opt for the latter.

But it looks like that won't prevent the notion of the season being voided.
