Eds and reds, who is the best free kick taker you have seen? I’ll start off with a slightly older suggestion and pick Juninho Pernambucano.

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps Ronaldinho.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Nice one Ed002. There’s just something about Brazilians and hitting a swerving free kick into the net.

{Ed002's Note - He was an outstandingly talented individual player but not ideal in the envorments of most sides unless they have the fortune to be able to recruit a player to do exactly as he wants.}

Siniša Mihajlović. Top class.

Ronaldinho’s free kicks were sublime, I was at the Pompey Europa league game vs Milan and you just knew it was going in!

What about Roberto Carlos he wasnt too bad either with a free kick.

{Ed001's Note - he scored one brilliant one and 99.9999% of the rest of his free kicks were in the stands. He was not good mate honestly. There is literally no comparison with Azk's choice, Pernambucano was head and shoulders above anyone else in this field.}

Juninho's free kicks might as well have been penalties!

another Brazilian free kick king favourite of mine was Rogerio Ceni.

Juninho I'd probably say is hard to argue with in terms of FK ability but I also think that Messi doesn't earn enough appreciation for his set piece qualities due to his overall ability. I'm sure his record of free kick goals is exceptional and from dangerous areas you'd rarely see him be far off his target.

Carlos was pants! Beckham usurped him in his first season at Madrid. Mihajlović good shout. he was sick!

Maybe not as talented as the rest of the above but Stuart Pearce could blast in a decent free kick.

Del Piero.

Zico was very good too.

Roberto Baggio was a great free kick taker. I even used to play Roberto Baggios magical kicks while I pretended to work.

I lived in france and was there when Juninho arrived at Lyon. He was good at set pieces but as the years went on he just got better to the point that ech free kick looked like as someone said, a penalty REGARDLESS of distance. I watched him score a near 40 yard set piece and it was like, "Meh, what else is new? ". The guy was super lethal.
