Checked out sites and couldn't see any news about the FA plan for 2019-20 season. From memory there was going to be a vote on Friday night? Have they just delayed?

Agree0 Disagree0

Suspended indefinitely, players to donate to NHS, 125m to help teams in the lower leagues are the main bits that came from it.

The league will be finished.

04 Apr 2020 09:28:44
I think all the football authorities want the season finished.

I also heard on radio 5 Live, a pretty credible station for those not in the UK, that the hierarchy in Europe are threatening to void the European places of those countries that cancel or void their respective leagues.

Not related to the meeting on Friday but Uefa has lifted the ban on showing footie games starting at 15:00 on a Saturday live on TV in England and Scotland.

“ It is seen as the first move towards restarting some domestic competitions in the UK behind closed doors.

The blackout has long been in place during the English and Scottish season to protect attendances. “.

Do you know the timescale involved for example how long b4 we could see any chance of a game behind doors?

04 Apr 2020 10:50:09
I don’t think anyone knows mate, Ed002 mentioned the leagues really need to be finished by the 30th June. I can see Uefa trying to go into the summer should the 30th June date not be achieved.

04 Apr 2020 10:16:21
Behind closed doors won’t happen as it has its own complications, I’m sure Ed002 explained this unless I read it wrong.

04 Apr 2020 11:40:06
I was hoping for something a little more concrete. Ed2 - do you have a summary other than what has been posted here?

{Ed002's Note - A lot of this is out of context or wrong. I have already written a summary but there is nothing concrete - is there a specific question?}

04 Apr 2020 13:25:54
I have a question Ed002.

Are you making your own cocktails during lockdown? Or buying ready made from Morrison’s?

{Ed002's Note - We always make our own.}

04 Apr 2020 15:38:06
No timescale, Hunter. No one knows anything for sure, at the moment.

I always trust the reporting of 5 Live, Drogie.

Daretodream, how can you say behind closed doors won't happen? Ancelotti, himself, suggested it may be a solution to finishing the season, though not ideal. I personally think the 30th June date will be extended. Like I said in a previous post, there needs to bed thinking outside the box at this unprecedented time. All this, this can't be done because of this and that is utter nonsense. When health and safety allows, the powers that be just need to find a solution with all parties concerned.

04 Apr 2020 20:19:14
Fully agree, Rome 1977. The options are there even tho none of them are ideal for such an unprecedented set of circumstances and we have seen a few of them already. It is whether the powers that be have the backbone and the bottle to go for one and stick to it provided the safety off all concerned can be certified. If not, we keep the powder dry until when appropriate.

Those who keep saying that it is impossible to finish the season for this that or the other reason, are just making bad faith arguments cos some of them don't want to see anything happen or lack the courage to think outside of the box, as you say and want a perfect scenario or nothing, which is nonsense under these circumstances.

ed2, thank you. couple questions then :

1-where can I find your summaries, are they hidden in the replies of other comments?

2-before this Friday, my understanding was that the FA would vote on ending the season or setting a end-date. And either way they would decide the implications on placings, using the Bundesliga proposal etc. My question is simply, what is the outcome after Friday?

{Ed002's Note - (1) You need to read the posts. (2) You have misunderstood a number of things - such as the involvement of The FA (I assume you means the Premier League) and there being a vote on Friday - I don't know where you have got that from. I have explained what was expected and what happened on Friday - I am not going to keep going over the same things again.}

05 Apr 2020 13:22:49
ed2 - I'll have a trawl through all the posts and see if I can find the one you are referring to. From other replies, I thought you had said there would be a vote on Friday? anyways will look through. and yes meant Premier League.

{Ed002's Note - What were you expecting to be voted on?}

06 Apr 2020 03:23:54
I thought you had replied somewhere that the PL would be voting last Friday on what to do with the 2019-20 season. and then based on our other chats, it seemed like it was boiling down to ending the season now or setting a end date of no return. And either way, they'd confirm what to do with the results. Anyways, I can't find your summary through all the pages so will just leave it!

{Ed002's Note - No, nothing like that at all. That will be why you can't find it.}

07 Apr 2020 11:53:28
evening ed2 (NZ time) .

I found your reply I was thinking of. It was a response you gave to WYred on 27 Mar. It's why I was thinking that there would be more concrete news. understand things change over time, but just saying this is what I had based my expectations on for news coming out after 3 Apr.

your reply :

{Ed002's Note - No such decision has been taken at this time but there will be a vote on April 3 as I explained earlier. If 70% of those voting at the PL meeting vote to end the season it will be decided then. Else the PL will give a best available date or a not before date in a press release late Friday next. There are really only two options on the table, and I have explained these. At least one European league will make the decision first - and they will end the season early. Yesterday three PL sides had made their position clear that they wanted the season ended early - I understand that today at least two more have taken that view. But right now the PL hopes the season can be finished by June 30.}.

{Ed002's Note - Things have moved on and you should look to the sentence "Else the PL will give a best available date or a not before date in a press release late Friday next." There are still sides who want to end the season early if it cannot be completed (ideally) by the end of June. Italy and now Spain are also gavinf such discussions - with Belgium already having gone down that route.}
