Just watched a random highlight reel of Gerrard screamers online and wondered, Ed001 specifically, how would a Gerrard in his prime fit into our current squad, if at all? Do you think he would be a hindrance and a player Klopp would have gone for? All hypothetical of course but interested to hear people's thoughts.

{Ed001's Note - it depends on when in Gerrard's career you mean. If Klopp had got hold of Gerrard early and moulded him, then he would have been perfect. After Rafa allowed him to get ideas above his station and taught him to run less, he would not have fitted.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001 which player from the past would you like to bring back and put into this current team please if you had the power. Where would he play and who would he replace and could you give reasons as well please mate. If you have time.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think there are any as the game has changed so much.}

Ed001 totally understand with what you’re saying. Do you think Stevie or Souness could have done a job in our midfield.

{Ed001's Note - yes, easily if they were youngsters coming through now. Souness played in an era when cutting people in half with a tackle was good play. So he would have to play a completely different way, but I am sure he had the intelligence and talent to do so. Stevie similarly had the talent and footballing intelligence to adapt his game, but he needed to have Klopp early on, before he became the big star. If he had worked on the defensive side of the game, which Klopp demands players do, and played where he was told rather than where he wanted, then he would have become an even better player.}

Ed001 Alan Hanson next to VVD!

{Ed001's Note - I love Hansen and he would have been good but it was a different era and he was a defender, not a midfielder at the back. So it is difficult to know if they can adapt and improve the team over players who have always played this way.}

Ed001 cheers for the reply mate. Hope you are well.

{Ed001's Note - good thanks mate, hope all is well with you and yours too?}

John Barnes.

Mascherano would be a monster in this team. Monster masch you might say.

Him and Suarez. Ed1, everything else aside, I can't imagine another ex-liverpool player who'd be as perfect a fit for how we play. Fight, aggressive, press from front, creative. He'd be a firmino on steroids!
