If we play again just imagine what a merseyside derby would be like with no fans, considering the fans play a big part in the atmosphere it would be eerie and strange .

I watched Dortmund-Schalke 04 yesterday (on TV) and it was the strangest game I have seen in a long long time. Seemed like a training game. No roar after a goal being scored. Didn't feel at all like one side was 4-0 up. But I'll admit most of the players seemed sharp still, despite the layoff.

Rumour has it fans might not be back in the stadiums until 2021 at the earliest. So it’s either this or no football at all. I know which I would choose. However cannot wait until football is back to normal.

The preference will always be football with fans however if we only want football with fans we won’t see a game until next year imo. I really don’t think fans will be allowed at stadiums until next year.

If football waits that long we will lose football teams and I would hate that too happen.

Games behind closed doors is not ideal but it’s the lesser of two evils.

Hello aray1969, you hit the nail on the head and that's what got me thinking, as I watched that game yesterday it was weird and eerie. I wonder how the players feel on the pitch will it help or hinder, will it help away team or less pressure it is crap but we had prob best get used too it . Be interesting too see klopp on touchline he won't have anyone too rev up and probably hear everything he says .

Hi Hailstones. You could hear the players talking or screaming to each other. But other than that it just seemed kind of surreal. Do you remember the Schalke player coming off and immediately being given a mask to put on? This "new" normal really is going to be difficult to get used to.

Think we'll be lucky in some respects in relation to the lack of atmosphere hindering the players as we don't really have much to do for us to get across the finishing line. I think it will impact those teams still able to make the CL spots or avoid relegation as they will be playing pressure games every week whereas - hopefully - we'll be able to ease off a bit once the points we need are secured (fingers crossed) .

Spot on, JK23. This will be the new normal now until 2021 when a new vaccine hopefully will be found people need to get on that train now and get used to what we all saw in Germany over the weekend quickly cos no fans will be in stadiums to watch games for a while esp. next season.

For me, I have watched many games behind closed doors before and it really doesn't bother me that much especially if my team is playing. I am too busy watching them play. I already have the notions of no fans being in the stands baked into my thinking so not arsed about all the atmosphere and all that cos well, I can't change any of that. Strange a bit? Yes, Bothered? Not really.
