Hi eds1
This is totally hypothetical but! If we did sign warner do you think we will change our style of play at all. I know klopp has changed us s few times of the years and teams did seem to sus us out before we were stopped. ?

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember any team sussing us out personally, but I am sure Klopp will try and stick with the flexible way of playing he has. The style doesn't really change, it is the formation and players that do really.}

I alluded to this yesterday.
I think Werner’s signing would broaden the tactical options at Klopp’s disposal.
I could even see, in the right circumstances, a team with our current front 3 and Werner in it. I’d suggest that Bobby could play the AM role quite well.
With the reduced finances now, a Summer transfer splash could well be more of a ripple.

Whilst someone like Havertz or Coutinho sounds good, it doesn’t look like the money will be there this Summer.
Consequently we could see Bobby playing the Coutinho role. He virtually does anyway. And this could allow Werner’s inclusion.

Two sitting midfielders of course. (Hence possible interest in another specialist DM? although again unlikely) .
But, yes, I can see further tactical options being allowed by Werner’s signing.

Why would you move bobby from a role he is so great at? it's like sticking VVD as defensive midfielder to bring in another defender makes no sense to me. then if bobby drops back which midfielder do you drop? It makes sense for rotation or preparation for someone to leave next season give a season for timo to bed in.

Hi Berg, I was thinking of a situation like Bayern’s formation when they destroyed Spurs 2-7.
Liverpool even went to the same 4-2-3-1 on the following night v Salzburg, though not with the same devastating effect.
If you could criticise Bobby for one thing, it may be a lack of pace. I definitely think he could play the AM role and slotting Werner in too would give for a huge attacking threat, especially on the counter with the pace in there.
A possible option anyway maybe?

Bobby could probably play every position to a really high standard. His skill, technique and awareness are phenomenal. But he's a CF. Always has been, he's trained week in week out as a CF. I think he could play AM but I think you'd be losing something. Perhaps werner would be a replacement. Perhaps one of our wingers gets a massive offer. Mane and Madrid for example. I hope not.

Maybe you play the wingers a bit deeper and have Bobby and werner up top. Back in the 442 days I think Bobby and timo would have been great. But that doesn't seem to fit with the way our wing backs play. For that reason, and big divok in the wings, makes me think one of the 4 would have to leave for werner to fit.

OP, this whole "teams sussed us out" stuff is some fantasy that people have made up after we hit a speed bump or two before the season was stopped. Nobody has sussed us out one bit IMO, cos we play the same system with the same players more or less every game at a high level for the past 2 seasons or so and have only lost about 10 to 15 or so games in ALL comps. out of almost 100 games. Also, we have lost 2 games in near 2 seasons now so with all that said, how have teams exactly sussed us out?

The fact is that they have not. Why? Simple. Our players keep improving and developing themselves individually and collectively. Also, Klopp continues to evolve as a manager hence, our team keeps evolving with flexible formations and personnel to fit what we would like to do depending the opponent. Signing players to improve us is also part of this evolution hence, the talk of Werner coming to us which I doubt will happen now, IMO.
