Sky Sports News have posted that Werner's release clause is only active for another 14 days (in terms of teams being able to buy him for around that price) . I was wondering is this clause legally binding for the Premier League clubs or just to fellow German clubs? If it isn't legally binding then surely it has no relevance other than being a price point.

{Ed002's Note - The release clause is binding for German sides and can only be seen as indicative of the price they want. A termination clause would be something that applies more widely.}

Hey ed 2. Potentially this could be a stupid question so if it is i apologized. Just wondering what happens when clauses as this expire on a certain date? Does the potential selling club have more of the power to sell at a price they feel the player is worth? Not necessarily related to Werner just wondering how these types of selling clauses work when a date is applied to their contract. Hope all is well with you and your family during these uncertain times and thanks for all the hard work you do.

{Ed002's Note - In terms of Werner they can charge what they want to clubs outside of Germany regardless. The clause in his contract was added because of Bayern Munich. But as he is damaged goods now they accept that he will very probably leave in the summer. If there is a release clause in a players contract and there is a "date" included, then it is simply no longer relevant after that date passes and transfers fees are simply negotiated.}
