Just wanted your thoughts now on the potential chances of the season getting started again. Ate there still doubts and questions to be answered or is it looking more likely now that it does restart?

{Ed002's Note - The plan is that the clubs will vote on it next week. There are still a number of issues to be resolved - that is delaying matters. They know the drop dead dates and if they cannot start on the planned date they know they only have one week after that to get underway or the season will be ended.}

Sharkey.: The plan is to first of all get the two outstanding games played so clubs are level on 29 games. Then the plan is to start the weekend of June 20. There is then only a one week window to start later than that - if they are not underway by June 27 the season will be ended because they cannot complete the season by the end of July. Next season has to be underway by September 12 at the latest. There are various hoops to jump through - final police agreement which will only come when the fixtures are finalised. The local and national Safety Action Groups need to agree - this might yet prove to be an issue in London and they have to take account of COVID-19 hotspots - which includes Birmingham and Leicester. Players will have to sign waivers saying they understand and accept the risks - and some are reluctant to do that. So a fair amount to do. The vote to proceed is scheduled for next Thursday. There is a full meeting tomorrow and there were discussions today. That will just be the Premier League team and board.}

Right ok Ed appreciate the info and update as always and I can see why you have your doubts I’ve the season competing taking all that into account.

As a matter of interest, why does the new season have to be underway by September 12th? No one knows what lies ahead, regards to 2nd wave etc, so why are dates being set in stone? Absolute nonsense.
