ed002 when you see spurs taking out the £175m loan I think that shows how much clubs are going to cut back. Am not one of the fans that some how glad we did not sign Werner as I think he would have made are squad so much better. I think he is a great buy for Chelsea do you think the transfer ban has worked in franks favour giving him a season without the normal full pressure on him to see where he needed improving first hand. I think with the 2 new signings a couple more and they will be right back in the fight for the title. Like you said we have to watch the purse strings with not being cash rich like Chelsea and a few other clubs I think we should hold tight for the next 2 windows as I think we will be in the fight for the league and champions league again next season with are squad and will be better off wages wise with a few players to leave on free transfers.

{Ed002's Note - Spurs have to pay for the stadium and that will be the main factor in the loan facility. Chelsea gave an opportunity to more youngsters than they probably would have done without the ban but they have invested heavily in the academy and the plan has always been to use them - they will have, I thinlk, three more academy players integrated with the first team squad this season - so it is seen as working. Liverpool has a very good squad already and at least one youngster in Curtis Jones who looks to be ready for the step up. They clearly are looking at adding another attacking player and there is a desire from Klopp to replace Lovren who Roma are interested in. Diego Carlos remains the preferred option and has the advantage that Xherdan Shaqiri is a player Sevilla want. The issues Liverpool have are money and non Home Grown vacancies.}

Diego Carlos is an excellent player but will suck our entire budget. I am little worried about Gomez in that case. Carlos is a Senior international and would start every game when fit.

I think on paper Werner is a quality signing for Chelsea and I think they will be a far better outfit next season and will be closer to challenging for the title than they were this season. I wonder what Abraham’s thinks of this signing and how it affects him going forward. Will Werner play alongside him or will he replace him as Chelsea’s first choice front man?

06 Jun 2020 11:22:52
Werner fits them more than us! He shall start every week at Chelsea. A proper CF who will be feed with through balls or how they want to play. He is a striker and that’s why they signed him. Chelsea has been looking at strikers from long time. He was one amongst.

Radio Jockey. Can I ask you to give us, your opinion on Diego Carlos his strengths style etc. As am guessing that you have watched him a lot etc. I have only seen him play once. And he was solid. Thanks in advance mate.

A proper ball playing center back! Excellent in picking up a pass. Pace is not his strength which is a concern in the PL. But overpriced! He is an experienced Center back.

Lisandro Martinez is young and excellent in possession, a proper Ajax pedigree. The lad is more of a playmaker than a center back. Very young and utterly underrated. He is a bit short and more like Djong with the ball.

Positive : both are excellent on the ball and like VVD Both has an eye for pass

Negative : lack of pace is a concern

My take: Ben white, wouldn’t cost a bomb, excellent in high line defense. Bielsa plays very similar to our pattern.

Thanks for that, very much appreciated. I've been impressed White everytime I've seen him. A great age also and as Ed002 has pointed out. He will help with the HG situation. My worry with Martinez is his lack of physical presence in the premier league could be a huge issue. He would almost be a better fit as a holding midfielder.

{Ed002's Note - Martinez is not going to happen. I would forget White for now as well.}

Chelsea will be right up there challenging for the title with their signings, Werner one that I think might come back and haunt us!

06 Jun 2020 13:41:07
Radio Jockey reminds me of someone, has Harry come back?

06 Jun 2020 13:48:22
Chelsea won’t challenge yet. They’re miles off. Only Kante would ARGUABLY get into this Liverpool side.

06 Jun 2020 14:17:37
Baz - what makes you think that? Look at Chelsea’s performances this season - they’ve lost almost as many times as they’ve won and were annihilated by Bayern in the CL.
They are also about to lose Willian, with Ziyech presumably being his replacement - a big mistake in my view. Should Giroud leave, that would be another mistake.
Most critically, Lampard is their manager and he has yet to show he’s anything other than average, as most vividly demonstrated by being bounced 3 times by Solksjaer’s Man Utd in the space of 6 months, each defeat being a carbon copy of the previous encounter.
They are 34 points behind the leaders and will likely be closer to 40 by the end of the season. A very overrated side and group of players.

Great to have you back Harry 👍, but leave the scouting to the professionals mate 😀.

06 Jun 2020 14:56:48
Martinez is what you get from Ajax academy. Technically first class with the ball. Can spring an array of passes up down and center. Calm and composed under pressure. He is very short which is an issue imo.

{Ed002's Note - He is not from the Academy and only joind a year ago.}

Chelsea still have the problem with Kepa, who really doesn’t look very good and they’ll lost a ton of money on him. So they might score more, but they’re still going to concede loads.

Going back to the defenders, I think we could do a lot worse than have a look at Nathan Ake, it looks likely that Bournemouth may be relegated and we’ve tended to do quite well plucking the best players from teams that took the drop, he’s quick, can cover left back and midfield competently and has partnered van Dijk. Well worth a punt once Bournemouth are relegated.

06 Jun 2020 15:13:03
I mean the Ajax team / culture / the way they play.

06 Jun 2020 17:26:21
JC23, Abraham is still learning the position a the highest level. He is not a patch on Werner, plain and simple. Abraham is a very promising prospect BUT is still young and still learning. He will have to suck it up and get on with it also, he had to have known that a striker would be signed cos Lampard has been saying that since last year before the Jan, Window.

Now I agree with you that based on Werner's ability, he and Abram can actually play to get with Werner being able to play out wide and behind the main CF.

Chelsea is a team that is currently in the building phase. Yes maybe Kante and Kovacic are probably the only 2 that may get into the Liverpool team right now. I can't think of any other especially given that Liverpool have been brilliant for the past few seasons.

However, the experience that is being attained by the young Chelsea players such as Reece James, Gilmour, Mount, CHO and Abraham etc is invaluable. The fact that these youngsters have played majority of our games and the fact that we remain in the top 4 is a big positive. They will only get better hopefully.

Hopefully with quality additions such as Ziyech and Werner you would expect Chelsea to bridge the gap with Liverpool. Maybe a few more signings needed to address the gap properly.

CFCShak, going forward you’ll be really good to watch, definitely one for any neutral to enjoy, but you’ll have the same problem we had with Mignolet in that you’ve always got to score four or five as the keeper is always prone to bad mistakes,

06 Jun 2020 19:38:26
6Times your post is a very fair mate.

I think we do have a bit of a problem with our GK and our defence. We definitely need to address issues in this area.

I am still hopeful Kepa can do something with whatever is left of the season. Maybe he could turn his fortunes around.
