9 years to the day since Hendo joined us. When we first joined us I had seen him play only a few games and he didn't play well at all so I was gutted when he joined lol but wow what a buy, I hope the lad retires with us, look how far he's come. Quality, he's one of a few players I wouldn't replace for anybody right now.

I still think his best season as a player was under Brendan. That season he ripped this league to a new one. His best game was one against Spurs at WHL. He was the best B2B player in the league.

Love hendo but wouldn’t go as far as saying what a buy! Delighted to see him thrive and collect metal 👍🏼.

Regardless of what opposition fans may think of him, he's gave this club almost a decade of service. Never once caused any trouble, always worked hard on and off the pitch, held himself in a professional manner. Oh and turns out he can play a bit also.

Opposition fans have no idea because they only see moments on the telly.

He’s work rate, motivation and sheer determination is everything you want from a captain. He ain’t bad further forward either, I’ve seen him play some excellent passes.

He does need to work on his shooting though 😂

European cup, world champion, supercup and soon to have a league title medal.

Not bad for someone that can’t run hey Fergie.

Not many better and more consistent centre midfielders in the premier league. He gets in every other top six side’s midfield bar Man City.

£20 million, 260 odd appearances, CL winner and soon to be PL winner, club captain and still only 29. If that doesn't make him a fantastic piece of business then what does.
Suits our team down to the ground.

Hendo and for me to say this is massive
Has been one of the best captains I have ever seen in my time as a Liverpool fan
Class off the pitch class on and all for 20m
Gerrard never led us to a title did he
And I have never once heard anyone say hendo is a bully off the pitch
Easily in my time the best captain since premier league started up.

Harry, BR wanted Hendo gone and would have had his way had Hendo not defied him and knuckled down so sorry, BR get NO credit for whatever Hendo would become that season, IMO.

Also, I disagree that Hendo had his best season under BR. Hendo was a key cog in the machine that in the end, wasn't BUT I feel his best year is this year cos he is now a leader of men, the coach's brain on the pitch, the experienced head who sees and snuffs out danger before it happens, a legend at the club as capt. of one of the best LFC sides ever seen and now, well respected by majority of LFC fans and managers all over England and Europe. He was none of these in 2013/ 14 season. Just my take.

Great article on Hendo on Teamtalk from Carragher.

Surely Hendersons best season will be this one, or even last season? Makes sense to me.

Fully agree, IR. He has been immense this season even better than he was last season, IMO.

A fantastic professional who gives his heart and soul to this club and spent the majority of those 9 years with large numbers of supporters not trusting him, to then take the captaincy of Gerrard and the inevitable comparisons and pressure that everybody seemed to use to shoot him down, it's incredible the difference in how he's viewed today. And not because he scored any iconic goals or had patches of form where he was prolific but simply because his honesty and commitment to the cause has poured out in his football over the last 18 months and he'll forever be the deserved captain remembered to lift the first prem. and to think we nearly gave him away for an ageing Clint Dempsey and with money too.
