I think robbie fowler needs too give his head a wobble, " werner is not a liverpool player and would not fit in ", I think werner is exactly what we need and would give us serious firepower. Chelsea will be potent up front with rumours of havertz also scary prospect .

Agree1 Disagree0

We already have serious fire power. Werner is a good enough player to play for Liverpool no doubt, but if you think replacing Firmino with Werner will improve us i think you're mistaken. We'd have 3 forward players who all want to occupy the same space in behind. Sure Werner would likely outscore firmino however at he expense of Salah and Mane scoring less and the general team not functioning in the same manner. We don't have that kind of cash to be throwing at a player not guaranteed a spot and he is Chelsea bound so I'd let it go.

How am I going to explain to my kids that despite of winning the CL, PL, posting record revenue and Edwards masterclass in selling players we HAVE NO CASH TO SPEND while Chelsea has 😅😅😂. I need help lol.

09 Jun 2020 15:26:54
Only next season will we know if not buying Werner and Chelsea getting him was a bad move. Im a believer that you need to freshen up a team and make sure there is renewed competition for places but that might be old school thinking and if Klopp gets the same results as this season then who are we to comment.

We have spent a lot of money in recent times Harry.

Redevelopment of anfield
Redevelopment of completely new training facility
75m on VVD
68m on Alison
50mil on Keita
40mil on Fabinho
40mil on the Ox
40mil on Salah

And as you say we’ve won a CL, about to win the prem off the back of 2 sensational point totals in the league and back TK back CL finals. Clearly the investment has been well managed.

{Ed002's Note - And Liverpool have paid far more to agents than is approriate.}

Radio jockey you hit the nail on the head there, I am scratching my head with all this, how unlucky are we that after 30 years of all years this one and when we would of been able too cash in on our success and get stronger the world goes nuts an we are shopping at pound stretcher.

09 Jun 2020 16:02:13
I think Robbie is correct - Werner is not a Liverpool player.

09 Jun 2020 16:05:58
I wanted Werner. I thought he would have been perfect for what we needed in that he could play all across the front line and the drop off in class would have been minimal if 1 of our big 3 was injured or suspended. But if everyone was fit and available for a huge game tomorrow he'd be on the bench for me. Really good player though Chelsea got a good one there.

09 Jun 2020 16:06:12
Yes we have spent a lot of money, yet so have every other club more or less. The reason we're where we are as a club is largely down to coaching. Shopping at 'pound stretcher' didn't work out so bad for a Andy Robertson did it?

Plus give the club a chance to make signings before shooting them down for not spending, do you want Liverpool to sign every player? If havertz joins bayern tomorrow have we missed out on that one too?

09 Jun 2020 17:01:48
No I actually don't want every 100 million player all I simply ask is cover for left back, cover for forwards, and a midfielder who is creative an more attacking that is 3 players and I don't mind shopping at pound stretcher too get them, is that too much too ask for champs league winners, best team in league in england and a team who wants too stay on top, what is our mentality as a club the big clubs around us it seems are bulletproof . virus no probs they just keep on spending .

{Ed002's Note - I have explained for months that Liverpool are not as well placed as other financially. You need to grasp that and think of the options the club already has - it is time for Keita to come good because after two years he has not done anything to justify his signing. The club could bring back Grujic and fight to get him a Work Permit. Brewster can return from loan and provide cover with Minamino and Origi.}

09 Jun 2020 17:28:52
Pep Lijnders has stated him and Klopp deliberately set the squad up this way to allow opportunities for younger players. Off the back of that it's allowed Curtis Jones, Neco Williams and Elliott to emerge as real options.

I don't think Ed has ever said Liverpool aren't in the market and we aren't going to sign anyone. Just we aren't going to throw huge sums around. Like i said, its far too early to be upset about Liverpools transfer activity when to my knowledge Chelsea are the only team to have even done any significant business.

09 Jun 2020 17:58:38
Thanks for reply ed I have read everything u have stated involving our finances and it's all seriously coming too light, I would love the youngsters too step up in a big way curtis Jones, Williams, harvey elliot possibly brewster, then as u say grujic could be needed and should be given a chance, minamino hopefully will step up also your very own chelsea showed everyone in league youngsters should be given a chance abraham, gilmour, mount, tomori, etc nice crop .

{Ed002's Note - They have come through after a significant effort with the academy - and there will be three more this summer. And the club has a lot of other kids coming through of which much is expected - so they are very pleased with how it is going.}

Some people seem to care more about what happens in the transfer market than on the football pitch.

09 Jun 2020 18:34:54
Yes cos if we didn't have a transfer market how would we have got allison, vvd, fabihno, robertson, salah, mane etc the market was used well by us too get were we are .

09 Jun 2020 19:38:19
Utd, 2 decades and Chelsea, have practically a decade head start on finances over liverpool. Chelsea have multiple league titles, CL qualification on a regular basis. City have their sugar daddy with money no object, yet some seem unable to grasp why after a couple of years of success we haven't mo ey to throw around like confetti. I'll put it this way if you've 50k in the bank and your income suddenly stops, your not going to go out buy a 50k merc🤷‍♀️.

09 Jun 2020 19:39:51
Hailstones, we are top 5 in goals scored in the PL since Klopp arrived. Also, we are second only to City in goals scored over the past two seasons so if you you don't think we already have serious fire power then, there's nothing I can do for you, really.

Now regarding Werner, I wanted him too cos he is top prospect and would definitely make us better BUT we all knew he would not be an automatic starter ahead of the members of the BADDEST front 3 on the planet and this, for the past 3 years where they have terrorized teams in the PL, Europe and the World. The reasons why we chose to back off of him have been well documented BUT clearly that's not enuff for some on here so what can one do?

Oh and btw, we have been shopping at Pound stretcher (whatever that is) since Klopp got in the door or does Matip, Robbo, Gini etc not ring a bell? We will sign the players that we think we need and if not, we won't and as Ed02 said, we need some of our other players to get a chance and come good too cos you can't sign everyone.

09 Jun 2020 21:26:22
Red meister yes we have the baddest front 3 on the planet but it won't last forever an teams do there homework we have too evolve different ways of playing and new players are a part of that . Wat I am saying is at one point we were looking at bolstering the squad, then cv19 happens an it pulls the rug from beneath us and like it or not we have too shop sensibly an shrewdly . Poundstretcher is a bargain shop by the way!

09 Jun 2020 22:24:25
Hailstones, Thanks for reminding me that people actually age and that nothing lasts forever cos clearly, I knew nothing about that till you mentioned it. Now to your point, why do you think we tried to sign Werner in the first place? Could it be cos Klopp is already trying to prepare the after-life if you like, should one of the front 3 leave or start slowing down due to age? I have no idea.

Also, you say we have to evolve the way we play. Seriously, have you been asleep the whole time Klopp has been here? He has evolved his way of coaching and our way of playing near every season since he got here. He turned our FB's to no. 10's, something I haven't seen in all my decades watching football. Made us very difficult to beat and very difficult figure out cos we don't play the same way even tho, the first 11 are the same.

They say LFC like to do the "gegenpress" while we stopped doing that 3 years ago. Also based on an interview by David Maddock, he said that the way we press has now become instinctive as in, the players are now able to recognize when to press and from where to press, which makes us very difficult to plan against as ANYONE can trigger it based on the situation.

Klopp is already already ahead of the curve, man. I get that we did not get Werner BUT for me, this manager and these players too well-drilled, intelligent and mentally tough to allow that to wear them down. If that was the case then, we wouldn't be where we are right now. Keep the faith, man!

10 Jun 2020 00:23:31
I am very aware we have reached a level which I didn't think I would see again that's after 35 years of being a red, I just want us too stay there were we belong, in klopp I trust!

10 Jun 2020 02:07:28
Some of those signings are going back 3 years or more. We haven't spent much in a while. I'm not complaining we are performing. And km certainly not going to question God!

10 Jun 2020 07:22:20
Wow, all of you need to have a word with yourself. So much negativity in this thread. It's like listening to children argue in the playground. Just trust Klopp and enjoy our first title in 30 years. Peace.

11 Jun 2020 04:24:39
Hailstones I get your worries and desire to stay perfect as a team but even the fact you're calling for LB competition, AM to offer more threat and a forward to fight our front 3. I think if those 3 signings were to have been desired by all the similar moans being made last summer from fans we would have seen sessegnon, ceballos and pepe as the players in each position that were being called for by the majority. Probably 140+mill and could you honestly say that would have been the improvement that we needed to stay on top while blowing huge sums that can be used on more important parts of progressing the club than the current squad which is arguably the most healthy and stable we could possibly expect. We don't need to panic or feel we're getting weaker, just remember the Thomas lemar, gelson Martins, Malcolm, fekir, mikhytarian, teixeira, rabiot as players we all spent weeks calling for as the the players needed to improve us in past summer's since klopp arrived. Trust the calls being made.
