Ed2, I see that a Norwich player who played against spurs has tested positive. What are the rules regarding this situation now, does that mean some form of quarantine kicks in for both sets of players meaning they can’t play this weekend? It’s this sort of situation that surely puts finishing the league in jeopardy.

{Ed002's Note - The Norwich player will be quarantined and his team mates tested again - the issue is the incubation period is longer than the period between games.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly Ed, that’s exactly the problem, there should be a 14 day quarantine for all of them, but that stuffs up the fixture list. Hopefully no one else will have caught it, but if that spreads to one or two of the other players from that game (and those players play this week), the league is surely going to have a massive issue and credibility issue, since the rest of the country face 14 day quarantines.

{Ed002's Note - For economic reasons and to protect Cummings the rush is now on to get everything open and ignore potential consequences of not being clear of the Coronavirus - which will not magically go away.}

Classic Ed002.

As if a 20% drop in GDP and a recession isn’t enough?
The country has to get going again.
The players who are testing positive are asymptotic aren’t they, which is an odd thing, but there really is no other choice but to get things moving again?

I’m 100% in favour of getting things going again, however I’m also in favour of finding those who are infected and those who have a reasonable chance of being infected being kept away from others, precisely so that we can keep the economy open. And also keeping the league going, if spurs players have picked it up and they then spread it to opponents this weekend and they spread it in the next game etc etc the league won’t be able to continue.

So hold on the juicer, you get the economy going and then we go back into lockdown whilst everyone else in Europe is coming out? They have played it smart went in early and are coming out late as they know in the long run that will save the economy the most, no one I know is sticking to lockdown rules every since that Cummings crap. The figures are bound to go up and the we will be bakc into lockdown in a month or two and every other country will be out. Our strategy is the most stupid ever, we need to go back into lockdown not come out of it? Better hope we win our next two games and get the league done wiht before we go back in.

What’s the difference in this player testing positive over the other positives that have occurred during testing. Yes he played a game against spurs but spurs have had a positive in previous testing haven’t they and they didn’t all go into 14 day quarantine or all come down with it.

I don’t think we will be back in lockdown they want to get the country ticking again although I think this autumn and winter will be the most interesting when respiratory diseases naturally increase.

As for the governments handling of the situation I think that needs it’s own page/ discussion as I think that argument will rumble on for many months.

And the reason no one has self isolated other than the Norwich player is because they need to be in contact with the positive test for 15 minutes or more. In a football match that’s unlikely although the rule was probably created to ensure football could return. Although I think the next batch of test results will be the most fascinating as if any spurs test positive it will likely be associated with the game with Norwich and may throw a spanner I’m the works.

Nothing to do with Cummings in my opinion. That will only be an excuse for people to do the wrong thing. We all have our own mind to do the right thing.

14 Jun 2020 19:45:50
That’s not strictly true WYred, the 15 minute business is all dependant on the closeness of the contact you have with someone.

Don’t always see eye to eye with Ed 002 but that was absolutely correct. Nice one.

I had a large vehicle test cancelled almost three months ago and rebooked for 22nd June. The government always knew it was for three months and have planned around that. Anyway, it's a massive con.

A massive con?
