When did we all of a sudden become the Hodgson era Liverpool team again. Absolutely diabolical defending so far tonight, been pretty crap going forward. It's totally out of character for a Klopp team, zero intensity, lacking leadership and concentration. Definitely missing Henderson tonight.

It’s not excuse, just because our captain isn’t playing shouldn’t mean the team start playing like headless chickens. There’s enough experience in that team to deal with his absence.

I honestly don’t think we are strong enough to defend our title next season. All our rivals are getting stronger, we don’t have any money, and since winning the title, we have played nowhere near the level team was playing before the break.

15 Jul 2020 21:20:51
The performance tonight does make you appreciate the standards that Henderson sets. He sets the intensity, encourages players to play better, to keep focused and gives both barrels to anyone who slips below the standard.
I couldn't give a toss about the money side of it all or what other teams are doing, I'll back Liverpool 100% but I expect and demand a level of intensity and performance in return, I can't tolerate lackadaisical performances.

Bit harsh. The league is sewn up with nothing to play for except records. Clearly the team is in holiday mode and they've just delivered us our first title in 30 years so I can forgive a few points dropped.

15 Jul 2020 21:57:26
but didn't a poster say that we would win next season by 30 points, then someone said 20 points,
doesnt look good this last couple of weeks,
I do think its cos we have the Prem won, too early for me,
no one is playing well, ha even the Shaq is coming on, in the shop window, we def need some fresh faces .
Chelsea will get something from the game at Anfield, which is all about picking up that Trophy .

15 Jul 2020 22:03:23
Ah here we go with the"Wont be able to defend the title, City will really hammer us next season etc etc.

15 Jul 2020 22:08:24
It's casual, it's complacency, it's the wrong attitude for a bunch of millionaires kicking a football. Records matter because you can't call yourself the greatest, as it stands you can argue we're no better than last year and only won this year Man City have been awful by their standards, that's what records will show.

15 Jul 2020 22:09:17
Some embarrassing comments here and on the live chat tonight. League champions for the first time in 30 years and after the earliest number of games on record yet we get slated because the team has mentally switched off for the season, I don’t blame them to be fair, why wear yourself out, next season will be starting soon enough.

And no doubt there’ll be gripes about us not getting the points record. I’m going to hazard a guess and suggest that 98% of Liverpool fans give not a single toss about City’s ‘Centurions’ tag or Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ tag.

This team will be back firing on all cylinders when it counts.

15 Jul 2020 22:10:58
I’ll say it again. If Klopp wins the league next year with these players, he will be up there with Shanks and Paisley.

{Ed002's Note - Easy ride then, or do you not think Paisley and Shankly are worthy of their accolades.}

15 Jul 2020 22:11:34
These are just glorified pre seasons at this point.

15 Jul 2020 22:13:04
Two errors and the universe implodes. Get a grip you reds.

15 Jul 2020 22:17:01
So what if we are no better than last year, we were still brilliant last year as were City. Stop looking for something that isn't there. We are Champions by a country mile this year and the players have taken the foot of the gas, it happens and it's not surprising at all.

15 Jul 2020 22:17:07
Yeah Barry.

Timmy in his bedroom says we won't be able to defend it so i guess we all pack up an don't bother 🤣

These games are completely unrepresentative of how we've been this season and sadly some will use this down period as a opportunity to bitch, moan, abuse etc etc.

Embarrassing goals to concede tonight an a game we should have won but ah well. Just accept we won't be at it until matchday 1 in the 20/ 21 season.

Johnnyr1970 I think the records would have been a nice addition, not knocking what this team has achieved it's been a hell of a ride so far and I'm loving it, but I'm also competitive by nature; if there's something to be won, go and win it if you can smash the records while winning do that too. I've just been frustrated at how unmotivated the players have been, they're not playing like champions.

Some people saying that we're treating these games like preseason games that may be true, but again that's not the attitude of a team that wants to dominate and win.
I believe we'll win the league next year, I also think it'll be a lot closer and that some teams may have figured us out which will make the games even tighter.
Still we have a week to dust ourselves down, refocus and go beat Chelsea. Let's lift that title on a high.

15 Jul 2020 22:37:15
Between here and Live Chat I'm seeing a lot of chatter about how unacceptable the performances are and fans saying they won't tolerate them. So what do you want?

You can bet Klopp's made it clear in the dressing room that wasn't good enough. As he did against City and probably Burnley too. What's the next remedy you want to see after that if the performance is lax again? Break the team up?

It's not at the level of needing any sort of major changes, so it's a bit like an old man yelling at a cloud.

15 Jul 2020 22:40:27
That game was painful to watch. But ALLEZ ALLEZ ALEZZZ.

15 Jul 2020 23:00:39
The games clearly matter to Klopp, you can tell by his team selection and by his reaction to the performances. The players have switched off and I think teams know how we are going to play/ where our creative areas are, good teams have been restricting those areas and have prevented us from scoring and creating as many chances, it's things such as that which give lesser teams hope against us. It's a combination of all these things that can explain away these current performances.

How does it get better? Drop some underperforming players, give the kids a chance to impress in the league, use this as an opportunity to examine the weaker areas of the squad and highlight the requirement for 1 or 2 transfers if the right players are available.

{Ed001's Note - but we have been creating loads of chances. It is coming down to a combination of bad luck and bad finishing, which is probably as much down to the lack of any real motivation right now as anything else.}

15 Jul 2020 23:20:34
When we won the league in 83, Paisley’s team lost 4 of their last 5 games in his last season with us. It’s human nature.

You’re 100% correct ed001 - we had so many chances against Burnley but couldn’t finish.

{Ed001's Note - the commentator said today it was the most chances we created all season.}

16 Jul 2020 00:24:25
When we miss chances the majority of time the player is smiling about it, you can tell these games don’t mean as much. People are over reacting to games where we have nothing to play for, it’s becoming embarrassing.
