Bild are reporting the Thiago move is going ahead. Doesn't make sense personally.

It does if lallana and shaqiri are leaving. And obviously klopp feels our midfield needs some thrust hence the keita signing. And as that doesn't seem to be such an explosive signing, mayhaps thiago does make sense. Couple that with milner coming to the end of his career and Henderson getting older and potentially missing more games. And we have a team of men, especially in midfield. Perhaps signing a 28/ 29 year old does make sense.

There are 100s of players out there that klopp could go for, if thiago is the one he's after then I trust him. And I think that with the lad moving into the last year of his contract Edwards smells a bargain.

Why not?

He's a world class midfielder who is well capable of giving us quality for a couple of seasons at the least. For that price it would be hard to not go for him as he's worth much more in regards to what other players are costing through Europe. Pjanic costing about 2.5 times more than thiago the younger and better all round CM player.

Wages of over £200,000 I think isn't a bargain by any stretch.

17 Jul 2020 08:26:51
It makes no sense, IMO both on a football and business level and I have explained the reasons why repeatedly in the past. Now if Klopp wants him then, I will yield to the Legendary Kloppmiester. Whether it is a bargain or not, only time will tell.

Age, injury record and he’s not really produced much this year. There’s a lot of reasons to think it’s not the best move, if we’re only going on past reputation as a reason to sign him that’s not particularly good reasoning.

17 Jul 2020 10:08:41
"Past" is the only kind of reputation you can have.

17 Jul 2020 11:09:21
We need something new. Not signed a player over 10mil since Ali. I’m all for it.

17 Jul 2020 11:19:49
If Klopp and his coaches etc want him then that is good enough for me.

17 Jul 2020 12:06:01
It’s not happening chaos he doesn’t fit the mould and we have zero money to sign him let alone his wages. Ed002 has put this one to bed on several occasions so let’s move on.

{Ed002's Note - Rather than misquote me you might want to search to see what I said.}

17 Jul 2020 12:28:16
Sorry Ed didn’t mean to miss quote you. You said it would be an odd move given his age and embassies and your not aware of any contact.

{Ed002's Note - Right. I still don't know of any approach to Bayern Munich by Liverpool.}

17 Jul 2020 18:35:56
Strange, a team as good as Bayern with all their opinions in midfield. Disagree with you. And openly stated they've tried everything to convince him to stay! Clearly very highly rated by them. I think they'd know abut more than us, and Clearly will know exactly how his body is and Clearly feel he's still got a few more good years in him, or else wouldn't be trying so hard to tie him down on a big new contract! Cracking wee player Thiago.

17 Jul 2020 19:56:38
Ed I appreciate what you’ve said and explained on the situation with Thiago and I no we have not spoken to Bayern but I need to ask Do you no if Klopp does want to bring him to the club this transfer window? It just seems everyone is talking about it happening now, mates popped round for a tinny and he won’t shut up about him!

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea why Klopp wants the club to spend what could be a large amount on a 29 who plays in a position where Liverpool do no need another player but if that is what he wants the club to do, and if they don't care about there being no resale value and if the can somehow find the funds, then there is nothing to stop it happening if they can agree a fee with BM.}

17 Jul 2020 20:30:37
Ok mate thank you, I’m now in the “not sure“ bracket From the “no way” bracket 🤔😊.

17 Jul 2020 21:22:09
Replacing a 34 year old Milner with a 29 year old Thiago seems good business to me. Let him go as a free transfer thank you to Leeds.

20 Jul 2020 02:26:20
So would spending any sizeable fee for De bruyme, Kante, VVD, lewandowski or koulibaly not make sense either considering most are older than or at least aged 29. Would you not want your club to spend at least double the price that thiago is available for any of those elite players given the fact they all are 29 or older.
