A question if I may, to Ed01.
Looking at Mane, Salah and Firmino, their movement and work rate, working for each other, I can only think of another 3 players that clicked so well for us, although I know they didn't play as a front 3 as such, in Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge - Rush when he came back.
Which trio do you prefer, and do you think the 80's trio in their pomp would have slotted into this system and team now?

{Ed001's Note - I prefer our current front 3, they are all almost as skilful and exciting as Barnes, though none can quite score like Rush or Aldridge! Players as clever as Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge/Rush can slot into any system and team. They didn't have the fitness of modern players but with modern training methods and lifestyles they would have been incredible.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Peak Barnes in this team would probably be the best player in the world.

Thank you. I just remember them tearing teams apart with not only their movements and speed of thought, but with pace and ruthlessness. I'd agree and go with our front three now, just a shame we don't have a young Barnes, Beardsley and Rushie coming through.
What did you make of John Aldridge by the way? He seemed to fit better with Barnes and Beardsley than Rush did, even though Rush was the better player/ finisher. Just my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - I loved Aldo, just wish we had signed him when he was young.}

Barnes would have been strolling on the pitch, running games in this era cos his talent was out of this world.

I agree RM, Barnes would be our best attacking player if he played now.

Barnes was the best player ever to pull the shirt bar Kenny. The guy was phenomenal. And as a person he is even better. Met him twice. Absolute Legend.

I've met John Aldo and he's a cracking chap. Interestingly from what I gathered and what he said he isn't a huge fan of Kenny (on a personal level) but respects him on a professional one.

I've also met Barnes and completely agree. Barnes was polite, chatty and stood up to have a photo. The nicest celebrity I have ever met by far.

He was with Ruddock and Molby on a fan meet and great tour. They were both stuck up and ignorant tarts. Molby didn't even look at my face and Ruddock looked angry just that he was having to deal with poor people. I never liked Razor, but lost all respect for Molby after that. At least i got my signed photographs i guess, but Barnes' is the only one on display.

Aldo is a good guy had him in my bar doing his career story a few years back, it's not kenny he had the problem with it's with his missus. If any of you get to see aldo doing one of his talks its brillant. He talks about his liverpool days and his irish team mates and big Jack.

{Ed025's Note - he was in the coffee house in woolton last sunday deiser with his mates, we always let on to each other as we were rivals years ago when he played for garston woodcutters but i cant exactly claim to know him..

You probably paid him Ed025.

I was with Razor the night he crashed his porsche, I have always liked him, one of the lads. Met him and his wife a few times at Wigan RLFC for after match drinks.
