So if Thiago rumours are true. Means midfielders next season.

Milner, Fab, Hendo, Wij, Jones, Keita, Ox and Thiago seems one or two too many. Surely one goes?

Something doesn’t seem right still Bout this to me, not that they are reliable but the Echo are denying we are even interested lol.

{Ed0666's Note - the echo don’t know their ass from their elbow. They are owned by the daily mirror so are a glorified red top.

Shaq?

Thiago offers something nobody else on that list can offer. It's up to Klopp to worry about how to keep everyone happy, or who he is prepared to sacrifice to make it work. All I know is Klopp wants Thiago and I want Klopp to be backed.

Bild etc from Germany says we want Thiago. But everyone here says we have no intention of signing him.
Personally not bothered if we get him or not, but adding more top class players is never a bad thing.

OP, Horses for courses cos we will be playing every 3 days during the season a lot of times.

Don't think Shaq plays CM jay but I guess he could make a space in the squad would seem a little strange to swap out a wide player with thiago who plays in midfield. Unless Ox going to be used out wide more.

I've made it known he wouldn't be the player I'd go for due to the cost, injury record.

However he is undoubtedly top class. If he comes in an helps us dominate for the next couple of years then it'll be money well spent.

Shaq is considered more of a forward than a midfielder. I’m guessing one of Milner or wiji are on their way, might even be both. Milner doesn’t play much nowadays other than the utility role he has. Hendo and fab are mainstays for me and will play most games when fit. Keita is a sick note, and as much as I rate him when he’s playing well, it’s not as often as we all would have liked. Unless he really kicks on next season, I see him leaving at some point, either in jan on loan or in the summer. He could also either be a mainstay in the starting 11 and keep hendo or Thiago out the team, or it could go the complete opposite and we see him moved on. Ox is a rotational player and will get a lot of game time especially in games where we need to drive the ball out of midfield and be more attacking, he’s a vital ingredient in that squad of midfielders. Jones will basically get the same amount of opportunities lallana got last season, he’s a developing player and will be rotated into the squad a handful of times, I don’t see us rushing him into being in and amongst the first 11 week in week out. So for the sake of rotation, having 6-7 midfielders isn’t a bad thing. Midfielders do the most work on the pitch, especially our midfield, so with some of them being injury prone (Keita, Thiago if it does happen, and ox) and some of them even covering the front 3, I don’t see it as much of an issue. Unless one or two aren’t leaving, then there may be too many to keep happy.

Mids wingers same thing 🤷🏻‍♂️😂.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ox is Shaq’s replacement if Thiago was to come in and Shaq left.

13 Aug 2020 21:54:17
Ox has been here longer than shaqiri. And shaq has played CM for us, albeit not very well.

Lallana has left and he leaves a space in the squad and the wage bill and milner is going to play less games presumably.

13 Aug 2020 22:07:05
Robbie I know how long Ox has been here mate. I meant in the sense that Ox might be played more in the front 3 if we were to bring in another CM. I think Ox made about 50% of his appearances last season in the front 3.

On the official club website, Shaqiri is listed as a midfielder. I was under the impression he was Coutinho's replacement. He's an attacking midfielder who can play on the flanks. Doesn't really matter either way does it. Shaq is probably leaving and Curtis Jones or Harvey Elliott can surely replace him.

Lallana moving on doesn't leave a hole in the squad. He had a few good games last season but id argue Jones 100% earned the right to those minutes and more. Keita looked to be really coming good before the break so I can't imagine we would move him on now. I think he will become first choice this season, just has to stay healthy.

Fair enough jk23

And of course he leaves a gap amerigo, (lallana) he was on big wages and often on the bench or even starting. You get the chance to replace a player who rarely played with a top player (lallana was a top player in his day) like thiago. Curtis Jones was in the squad already last season.
