Not Liverpool related but what a fairytale end to the season for RBL, 11 years ago they were formed now they are CL Semi Finalists.

How did we lose to Athletico over two legs and the second leg at Anfield? Just shows the enormity of Allison’s importance.

13 Aug 2020 22:54:24
Juuuuppp. Adrian gifted them 2 goals! we dominated them for 110 minutes before that.

13 Aug 2020 22:57:06
Enormity of a top goalie! Oblak made 13 saves something like that, and we still scored two!

13 Aug 2020 23:29:00
I don’t think it was purely down to Adrian because I don’t think we were any good during either tie, that was when we started to look off the pace a bit. But even then, we shouldn’t have been losing to athletico Madrid, especially at Anfield. And as good as some of the stuff Adrian has done since coming in has been, he has made some right costly howlers, I like Adrian but I’m not overly confident in him, the same way I felt about mignolet being second choice, i know he’s decent on his day but he’s got a calamity waiting to happen.

On another note, I’m so glad Athletico are out, in years gone past I thought they were unlucky not to win it, but they get little sympathy from me this time.

Exactly, LFC8. I guess the so called Simeone masterclass that must have included Peter Gulacsi (RBL and ex LFC GK) beinbg injured in training before the game and his no 2 making a mistake to let AM score, did not work out tonight.

Simeone is a dire manager and AM are only going to get worse cos Simeone won't change even after spending over 200m this season and spending 12m alone on Joao Felix, a very promising talent. In their biggest game of the season and Simeone had him on the bench today, for heavens' sake. Did Simeone forget it was a one of game cos he parked two buses today like it was an away game? RBL deserved to win and at his stage, any team can make the final.

It was extremely frustrating to watch. They seems purposely sat back after they scored the penalty. Not like they were leading anyway.

13 Aug 2020 23:48:25
That and that our strikers had been getting away with inefficiency up front all season, until we played a team that we needed to take our chances against.

14 Aug 2020 01:51:50
Liverpool had the best shot conversation rate in the Premier League but apparently our strikers are inefficient 🤦🏼‍♂️.

14 Aug 2020 02:38:16
AW - exactly.
Mane and Salah are two of the most wasteful elite players I’ve ever seen. Amazing talents, it goes without saying, but they annoyed me that night almost as much Adrian.
Adrian is a terrible keeper who has proven to be a transfer mistake, regardless of how happy he is to be at the club - we should have expected that kind of performance from him from day 1.
But his League Two mistakes nicely covered up Mané and Salah being so careless with guilt-edged chances.

{Ed0666's Note - Wow...I’m truly speechless

LFC8 - couldn't put the ball in the net mate. simple as that really. and to be honest, it's football and it can happen. We'd win everything otherwise.

Some of these comments show how entitled and spoiled our fan base have become, they take players like Salah, Mane and Firmino for granted. In the last decade we’ve had the likes of Ngog, Carroll, Lambert and Benteke up front.

14 Aug 2020 05:28:18
Adrian was not a transfer mistake. We needed another senior keeper. We all know he's no Alisson but he did well, helped us win the super cup. All players make mistakes. When we played AM we had gone off the boil a bit in all competitions. I don't think you can blame any one player. You can't win them all.

And lowel, mane and salah are two of the best players to ever pull on the red shirt. They are pretty much beyond reproach mate. They've been so brilliant for us you can forgive them for not scoring 2 in every game. Their gk had an absolute blinder at anfield as well.

You guys seem to have unrealistic expectations of Adrian. He is a no. 2 for a reason. He did well early on in the season when Allison was injured. He barely played after that. He was coming into the match after a bad performance against Chelsea and was arguably playing the biggest game of his career. Had we converted our chances in normal time, we could have won the match. Even Allison has made mistakes. Hell the MANU first team keeper has made a bucket load of mistakes. He is a decent no. 2 and certainly a better one than Mignolet. Forgetting the good work that he has done and constantly pointing out his mistakes is wrong. I do not understand this fascination to constantly criticize players.

It was months ago. A new CL campaign has already started. Let it go!

14 Aug 2020 07:54:45
Athletico away we were poor. Athletico at home was one of our best performances of the season for intensity and how we moved the ball around. We just couldn’t convert our chances and then we came undone with 2 silly mistakes. Negative side is we went out of the worlds biggest competition and positive side is due to the C.V. we are currently resting up whilst our closest rival (s) train and play In Portugal for the month of August.

14 Aug 2020 09:06:06
The Irish Rover

When did the new CL campaign start? I was of the impression that 2019/ 20 was still being played.

14 Aug 2020 09:54:16
LoweLFC, I'm not having that. Salah and Mane have been the most wasteful players you have ever seen? If that is the case then you don't watch as much football as you think you do cos I can show you wasteful strikers and a couple of them play at City like Sterling who yeah scores goals BUT has a sot conversion rate that is lower than Salah and Mane. Salah and Mane are international superstars and have been 20 goals a season strikers for the past 3 years in a row.

14 Aug 2020 10:15:19
Nope, I stand by my assertion - Mané and Salah, while they are unquestionably world class and will go down as Liverpool legends, are very wasteful players. Easy chance after easy chance goes begging in nearly every match we play. Their profligacy is the weakest part of their respective games.

14 Aug 2020 05:44:16
Which part has dumbfounded you, Ed0666?
Salah and Mané are world class players who will go down as legendary figures at Liverpool. They are, however, very wasteful and were especially so last season.
As for Adrian, his poor errors cost us our place in two cup competitions and allowed the Super Cup to go to penalties in the first place. I have no idea how some people think he performed well at any stage last season.

{Ed0666's Note - Please excuse me for not retorting Lowel. I’ve taken umbrage at you’re comments and don’t want to get into a back & forth with you because I may not be able to keep my composure. Our exchange will make me look as if I’m devoid of any class and lack manners. I hope you understand. Have a super weekend.
