Question for edd002 not liverpool related, do you think messi might leave barcelona? If so could he try and get a move to a english club? Apologies its on the wrong page, cheers.

{Ed002's Note - It is obviously on the wrong page but Messi was expected to leave next summer but the situation has changed, not unexpectedly, and it is possible he will leave this summer.}

The chap is on astronomical wages he’d bankrupt a English club lol! I’d say only city could afford him I’d love him in the epl wet winter nite at Ellend road getting a warm
Welcome!

{Ed002's Note - He won't get the same wages (€40M base pa) but he does have a very lucrative deal with Adidas (although he makes more money for Nike and Barcelona through shirt sales).

Cheers edd will be interesting to see if he still wants a challenge would be great to see him in the prem.

17 Aug 2020 14:32:33
Can you imagine if he goes to juve? Cr7 on one side and Messi on the other. Finally.

If it weren't for ole I could see utd having a pop. I've got this weird feeling - messi/ spurs too.

17 Aug 2020 14:56:42
Spurs can’t afford Messi mate. Their shopping at Poundland with Hojberg and Joe Hart this summer.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe not entirely shopping at that level. But not Messi.}

17 Aug 2020 14:59:22
Two old fellas up front Robbie, combined age of about 70, £50 million in wages? They would need to be shifting some merchandise 🤣🤣.

17 Aug 2020 15:24:40
Which of course they sold. And may be old but they can still play.

17 Aug 2020 15:34:24
Hey ed002 just asking if Messi was to leave this summer, I know it would only be a handful of clubs but which clubs in the world can afford him?
A reply would be appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - Wrong page. Try the right page and you will find the answer.}

17 Aug 2020 15:34:32
Yeah fair enough ed2, I exaggerated. But their not shopping at a level that improves their team at all.

17 Aug 2020 15:54:33
Messi wanting to leave is all fine and dandy, but I think it's highly unlikely this summer. The first thing is that Barcelona would probably get rid of their Chairman before they let Messi slip out the door. The man has a God-like stature in that city. He can do no wrong. And second, he would cost a fortune in both transfer fees and wages. In this C.V. environment where the majority of clubs are projecting losses for the season, across most countries in Europe, who wants to take a such a financial gamble and the scrutiny and attention such a transfer would bring along?

Never underestimate Mourinho with a pre-season behind him. Hojbjerg is a solid player. Technically sound and physically tough.

Remember that Jose got basically the current Man Utd team minus Maguire and Fernandes, to 81 points and 2nd place. He even won trophies there.

Write Spurs off at your peril. I have them top 4 next season. He's still amongst the top managers in the Premier League. Spurs are the main team I am not looking forward to playing next season.

17 Aug 2020 16:30:55
It will be interesting to see Harvey as for me, the clubs Jose has been at usually spend a bit of cash.
So it will be different to see how well he does and how much he can get out of the players at his disposal.

17 Aug 2020 16:48:33
I understand ya Harvey bun. Its almost like they wrote this season off. Whg would they do that? Coz they're building for next season. I agree, they shouldn't be written off. And he has huge pulling power. And I imagine playing with kane would be quite attractive too.

17 Aug 2020 17:04:52
He certainly has in most jobs Rover, but not all. Someone told me years ago that his record signing at Porto was Benny McCarthy for about £3m. Makes it even more unbelievable that he won the Champions League there. Inter Milan i think he only spent about £100m across 2 seasons, and won the treble.

Klopp, Guardiola, Mourinho and Ancelotti are 4 of the best in the business. I'm intrigued to see how Jose and Carlo do in the unfamiliar territory of being an underdog, next season. I can see Everton fighting for the Europa league places. People forget that they were in the relegation zone when Ancelotti joined.

I still think Liverpool and City will be a significant gap ahead of the rest for now though.

17 Aug 2020 17:19:50
Messi, the second best Argentinian player that I've seen. Maybe the third best because I forgot about Emiliano Insua for a moment.

17 Aug 2020 17:39:50
Explains why we pulled out of Werner - hope Messi happy to rotate?

17 Aug 2020 18:16:11
What about batistuta?

17 Aug 2020 18:24:32
Maureen will finish around 7th next season and will play boring football. He will no doubt alienate the dressing room and will be lucky to be in a job at the end of the season. Guarantee it.

17 Aug 2020 18:24:46
Robbie, what about Riquelme?

17 Aug 2020 18:57:32
Maybe he'll just back to Argentina? . surely he has enough money by now!

17 Aug 2020 18:59:19
Harvey, how can you say write spurs off at your peril and then say you expect them to be some way of us and City? That’s exactly what I said, I am not in the least bit worried about them.

Spurs have been going backwards for about 2-3 years now and Kane along with them. They have no money spend.

17 Aug 2020 19:03:17
Touché RM.

17 Aug 2020 20:54:21
I can’t see Jose doing any good at spurs there are to many poor players there and he won’t be able to handle losing so many games and will lose the dressing room faster than he normally does.

17 Aug 2020 21:40:31
What about di Stéfano? I saw him on the highlights reel that they play on the Bernabeu tour. Gento crossing the ball with a back heel to Alfredo and Puskás. Crazy team, the original Galacticos.

18 Aug 2020 06:46:33
Shaq, you said they are shopping at poundland and won't improve at all.

I agree they're looking at budget options but so have we under Klopp on several occassions (Karius, Adrian, Matip, Klavan, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Minamino etc) .

I'm not saying Spurs will challenge us. I'm just saying they will improve next year. You emphatically stated they wouldn't. It's all subjective though mate. You might be right. That's football!

18 Aug 2020 10:22:19
Maradona is the best that I've ever seen. Therefore Messi is the second best Argentinian that I've ever seen.

18 Aug 2020 20:35:52
Have spurs signed Hart? Why? Loris had a bad season but is still a good keeper, I've always thought he was too good for spurs. And he's way better than Hart. There are better keepers out there surely.
