Apparently Malang Sarr has agreed a deal with Chelsea, they seem to be trying to buy everyone!

Agree1 Disagree0

What’s new. They’ve done it for nearly 20 years.

{Ed0666's Note - they still won’t win anything with Lampard in charge.

25 Aug 2020 00:38:47
Some excellent signings, not convinced on the Silva one though. Serious point regarding lampard - how long does he get given by RA? He's not known as being the most patient and whilst improvement shown this year I think it's trophies or gone.

{Ed0666's Note - I think lamps will be done in a year or two and whoever takes over will have the nucleus of an epic team with the kids and the superstars they have.

25 Aug 2020 01:25:45
Most likely Ed0666, although I hope not! Lampard will make way for a more experienced/ decorated managerin a year or so like you say unless he completely messes up, which I think unlikely. Still has that defence to sort out though!

{Ed0666's Note - Sarr, Silva and chilwell isn’t too shabby a defence if you believe everything that’s written mate. I’d only worry about Chelsea when and if someone of stature replaces Lampard.

I'm not so sure ed666. I've never loved lamparg as a liverpool supporter and Gerrard fanatic.

But he is a born winner, was a very intelligent footballer. I think he's done a decent job getting chelsea top 4 with one signing and a handful of youth players.

Dunni if he good enough to challenge. But my instinct says he is.

{Ed0666's Note - I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on that one mate and let time see whose right.

The problem with some of Chelsea's signings seem to be that they see Chelsea as a stepping stone to eventually getting dream moves to Real or Bayern (Havertz and Werner) . If Lampard flops, will those players wait for the next manager to implement his ideas or move to their dream clubs?
We all know Chelsea was never the preferred choice for most of their new signings, and it was the C.V. that gave a cash rich club like Chelsea a boost to steal a march on Real, Liverpool etc who are not in a position to shell out big money this window.
This project could be a big success for Mr Abramovic but could equally end up being a massive failure especially if Lampard does not deliver.

25 Aug 2020 05:45:11
The Times are reporting they’ve never spent as much as this window - Massive pressure on lampard to deliver.

25 Aug 2020 06:35:05
Robbiesline, the only reason why Chelsea and to an extent Man Utd got top 4 is bcoz Spurs and Arsenal were so bad. Lampard needs more than just a top4 finish and a domestic cup trophy to justify this ridiculous spending. Roman will expect him to deliver a league title and UCL trophy within the next 2-3 seasons no doubt.
Is Lampard up to the task to meet Roman's expectations? Only time will tell, but the level of investment made by Chelsea for the best talent available in the market means Lampard is already walking a slippery slope.

Remember a couple of years ago when Fulham bought about 15 players in one window? All it did was alienate the players who were there already and they ended up getting relegated because the new ones couldn't play together.

I'd love to know how Mount, Abraham, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Gilmour, Loftus-Cheek, James, Tomori and Christensen feel. Wasn't Lampard supposed to be the manager who finally gave all their youth a chance? I'm sure they wanted more than one season for their chance!

I see the wholesale changes backfiring and Chelsea dropping out the top 4 personally. He could lose the dressing room for this severe lack of loyalty. They only needed a goal keeper, one centre back and a left back. We'll see i guess. Maybe i'm totally wrong and he'll be able to keep everyone happy.

This is the first time Chelsea had failed to win a trophy in 4 years. Lampard took a team that had finished 3rd, won a European trophy and been to another final and took them to 4th and a final, brilliant. He may have lost Hazard but he was able to call upon players who weren’t there last season, like James, Abraham, Mount, Pulisic and Tomori. Lampard never looked like he knew what his best team was, so much for giving the kids a chance, he’s buying half of a new team.

Indian Buzzer who said Havertz preference was Real Madrid? Weren’t the majority of Liverpool fans braying for Sancho even though his preference is Chelsea? Werner had about 3 ‘preferred’ destinations in Bayern and ManUtd before Liverpool, and you only had a look in due to tapping up despite being broke af. The majority of players go to clubs that aren’t their dream moves. Least be completely honest, Salah, Mane, even VVD and Alisson didn’t join Liverpool as it was their dream move, as when they joined Liverpool weren’t exactly challenging, and the fact that Salah has been trying to get his agent to engineer a move away to pretty much any club is proof 😂.

25 Aug 2020 07:50:15
Some of these players are going to Chelsea simply because no other potential suitors are in a financial position healthy enough to compete for them, and that alone should be rather alarming for Lampard and co. Werner wanted to join Liverpool, Havertz probably wanted elsewhere also.
Just on the signings themselves, Ziyech and Chilwell are okay players, nothing better than what they already have in my opinion. Werner is a great player, and Havertz is potentially the same. Thiago Silva I couldn’t care less about, he’s 36 in less than a month - title-winning teams don’t have 36-year old CBs starting games.
I’d expect them to get top 4 again, Pulisic and Werner will be far too much for most teams, but they aren’t getting anywhere near the league title nor the Champions League. Lampard is making a rod for his own back with these signings.

I think Chelsea will be up there this season, hate to say it but they’ve made some fantastic signings.

25 Aug 2020 08:52:15
Never write off a Russian Billionaire 😁😁. If only FSG loved a tenth of what Roman loves Chelsea FC.

25 Aug 2020 09:01:13
I don’t know why we are so defensive over Chelsea and their signings. Who cares if these players aren’t going to their preferred destination. Once they are there they will play to win like players do at all clubs. Personally I would have loved Havertz and Werner in our squad. I think some of these players will make Chelsea a far better side but truth be told we have a world class side so hopefully teams like Chelsea, City and Utd recruiting will give our lads the motivation to push on even further.

25 Aug 2020 09:27:31
Fuser, if Bayern come calling in a few years time for Werner and the same happens with Havertz in case of Real, they will be off in a flash.
Every German footballer dreams of playing for Bayern eventually.
In LFC's case, irrespective of the fact that Salah, Mane, Alisson, VVD are all world class, the Spanish Big 2 and Bayern either already have brilliant players for those positions bar a CB or they have younger players in mind. Also Klopp got us challenging for the league and UCL within one season after most of our top players joined us. That is what's expected of Lampard. If he does not deliver the big prizes within 2-3 seasons, these so called super talents will look for greener pastures.

Players want to play and live in London, that's why Chelsea have kept their best players over the last 10 or so years, they pay big wages, play in London and have been a very successful club. I think it's a bit silly to say these players are only biding their time at Chelsea. They're building a strong team, definitely good enough to sustain champions league qualification for the next few years, and beyond that, we just don't know. I expect Liverpool to win the league this season, but it's getting tighter at the top. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea finish 2nd, if the players gel quickly.

25 Aug 2020 12:31:42
Last year was the 1st time I actually wanted Chelsea to get top4. As liked the model and given youth a chance. Rather than the usual Roman way of buy buy buy! But hey ho, it lasted 1 season. And Roman and Chelsea back to type unfortunately! Odoi etc must be annoyed as promises must have been made and likely going to be broken id imagine. No excuses for Frank and the players now, surely the pressure on now.
