Rumours on selling Brewster are heating up. Personally I think I’d rather give Brewster a chance then sell him to sign another attacker unless it was on a Werner level (doesn’t seem possible) .

Also, what message does it give out to other academy prospects when Rhian has done everything asked of him and shined wherever he has been, yet we ship him out without any real chances in the 1st team?

Haven’t had a quality striker out the academy since Owen I believe!

If he leaves then it's likely he would be leaving so that he can get first team football. That's not the club being bad to him. He would only be allowed go if Klopp doesn't intend on using him all that much.

09 Sep 2020 23:54:55
It would send a much worse message to them if we convince Brewster to stay again with more false promises and waste another 12 months of his career. It would send an even worse message if we turn him into a perpetual loan deal journeyman in the football league, just to prevent anyone else from having him, until he's missed the boat and never reaches his potential.

We ether sell Origi and make Brewster an integral member of the squad, or sell Brewster so he can be an integral part of someone else's squad. In order to attract the best youngsters in the future, we have to be seen as a club who is prepared to do right by our young players. What is best for Brewster is that he can be 1st or 2nd choice for a Premier League team who will plan for a future with him in the squad.

Firstly you don’t know that he has done everything asked of him. You don’t know what Klopp has asked of him in training. Klopp has said multiple times Brewster needs to become more involved in the play, right now he looks like a poacher. Secondly, TAA, Jones, Elliott and Williams are all examples to the academy players that if they are good enough they will get a chance.
If Klopp doesn’t think Brewster is good enough for Liverpool then I would support that 100%.

10 Sep 2020 06:52:33
Liverpool are at the very top of the PL tree. It is very unrealistic to expect the majority of young players to make there. I think Klopp has done well in getting TAA and hopefully Jones into the squad and I think the club has done reasonably well in developing players and selling them on. It they can't make it here, it's best for everyone to move on and make a good career for themselves.

I agree thunderbird. I played as a kid, a striker. People said I was a natural goal scorer and i do have top goal scorer trophies.
But I wasn't a bad footballer too. You have to be if you're going to score lots of goals. But I was lazy. We lost too many games and even when losing I was still hanging around the halfway line waiting for the ball when I could've made a huge difference if I'd tried. It's one of my biggest regrets, that and smoking and drinking and stuff

When you score goals it is a buzz, and you want it. So instead of getting involved I was always positioning myself to receive the ball in the best position for ME to score, and not for what was best for the team.

I'm yapping. Brewster wants to hit the back of the net. But look at our no1 forward. It's not his priority. I have such respect for Bobby because he sacrafices his game for the team. He has given up cocaine so to speak. And that deserves respect. If Rhian is good enough to score the amount of goals the kid has, he is good enough to change his game to suit our style of play. I guarantee it. Will he be able to kick the habit? Maybe. Does he want to? Who knows. And that's the question. Also, should he? Unlike drugs scoring goals is not bad for you. And in the right set up he might, no he WILL be a success.

I'd loan him to a team that plays with a false 9, or at least requires their no9 to really work and get involved. That might sound counter productive but he is still a baby. And it'll give us a chance to see if he can operate in that role given lots of chances.
Loaning him to a team that plays an out and out 9 is pointless and we're treading water. But I think selling him now is just a bit too quick.

Imagine if it worked. We'd have a false 9 who can hit the net for fun. A timo werner type. For nothing.

{Ed025's Note - your second name is not fowler is it robbie.. :)

All I'm saying is I have Not slept with Jordan. Nuff said ed025.

I was never in any danger of making a career out of football. But i've always thought with more confidence I could've sneaked into the ryman league. I was very natural. Could play winger cf cm lm fb. And the best team I played for was easily the best in my city and regularly went deep in County Cup semis and final while I was there (lost the final) but I had no friends at the club. The manager poached me from my local team. I wasn't very "hard" and our team had 3 of the hardest lads in the city for our age. It was a rough club and without friends (and in my second hand tracksuit) I was nowhere near playing my best football. This team had two guys who went on to play pro, one in the championship. Some semi pros.

And a mate from another team I played for, who I was easily as good as but who was bigger than me played for the city's school of excellence. I have no idea how far he went, but I'd be surprised if he didn't play at least semi pro. Then again he was a bright kid (went to school with him) and he may have decided he'd make more money going to university etc.

I liked girls though, and at that age you got laid by smoking b and h and drinking white cider. And then someone rolled me a funny smelling roll up and put on pink Floyd. Game over.

{Ed025's Note - your a man after my own heart robbie, kudos mate..

10 Sep 2020 07:53:07
I honestly thought you were talking about me there - almost identical stories!

{Ed025's Note - you can join our team then supareds, no oranges at half time only ciggies, no training and right on the lash after the game mate.. :)

10 Sep 2020 08:08:08
Ed025, if your team is looking for a RB/ RM who can only last 35 minutes before being woefully out of position/ breath, drop me a line.

{Ed025's Note - your in HMB, you pass the criteria with fling colours mate.. :)

10 Sep 2020 08:12:01
How about turning up to training in 501s! Yeah, you're in supared mate!

We'll be called wishyouwerethedarksideofthewall fc. And we'll play like animals.

{Ed025's Note - we are now looking for a morbidly clinically obese keeper robbie, if your out there neville southall give us a ring mate. :)

10 Sep 2020 08:15:19
Almost identical supared? You're telling us you did sleep with Jordan then.

10 Sep 2020 08:48:45
Lmao ed025!

Harvey, you're fitness coach bud.

10 Sep 2020 09:22:31
Liverpool needs the money and Brewster is the best bet to get some in. Other world-class fringe players aren't wanted outside lol.

10 Sep 2020 09:47:23
My fitness regime is intense Robbie.

1. Fit'ness whole pizza in your mouth.
2. Fit'ness whole keg of beer in one glass.
3. Fit'ness this massive rear end in a chair and enjoying a bit of Storage Hunters.

Luke Shaw is the only Premier League player who has completed it.

{Ed025's Note - i think jan molby would run you close HMB, but what a player he was mate..

10 Sep 2020 10:03:06
My favourite Liverpool player.

{Ed025's Note - great player barry, a danish scouser who had the kind of body that defied logic, big and bulky but with supreme touch and skill and what a football brain!, massive fan mate..

10 Sep 2020 10:24:21
Harvey I see a pattern fine man. Discs in our mouths, discs on the stereo. Gluten free, my pizza is gluten free and you are sacked as fitness manager. But in that case jobs safe Still rb, and I'm thinking with you being able to do 35 minutes without fainting you should play rw up top. I see you in that mane roll

I told our new gk about the mane roll and he asked if I had ketchup and mustard.

10 Sep 2020 10:28:48
And wierdly tiny feet 😆.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely john..

10 Sep 2020 10:30:48
Spot on, Thunderbird. If Klopp is thinking of selling Brewster then it means that either Brewster does not want to hang around being on the bench/ go out on loan again and wants to play regularly OR Klopp does not think he can fit the way we play and is not prepared to switch his system to suit him (which he shouldn't) OR a bit of both.

Nobody knows what the truth is and IMO, it is not a case of selling Origi to keep Brewster as that is not how football works. If Klopp wants to keep Big Divvy and sell Brewster, there are reasons for that and said reasons, we will NEVER know.

If Brewster wants to leave cos he needs first team football and is not ready to be a Divock Origi who is ready to play his role in the team then, that is his wish and if we love Brewster then, we should do what is best for him and let him go fulfill his dreams somewhere else. Just my take.

10 Sep 2020 11:17:27
Well i have Coeliac disease Robbie, so mine will be Gluten free.

However i'm adaptable and have my own nutritionist (on the streets they call him Papa John) . I'll make sure yours an extra deep pan, stuffed crust, 5 cheese, meat feast. At least during pre-season as it's important to really push our bodies to their limits so we know we can cope with the long season ahead when the pub crawls and takeaways start coming thick and fast.

With regards to brewster ed1 hit the nail on the head. His knee injury has robbed him of his pace and dynamism. Couple that with the year he missed playing and not having the opportunity to develop his all round game he is about 2yrs behind for Liverpool.

I think they are considering selling him based on that and letting him have a chance of having a good career elsewhere. It would be cruel to let someone with such obvious natural talent waste time sitting on the bench or being a career loanee like our other fringe players. If we didn't have Bobby I have no doubt he would already be playing as he knows where the goal is. I also think its a little unfair to compare him to Bobby and disagree that he should change his game to play like him so best all round to let him go.

I feel bad for the lad tbh because I really like him and want him to succeed.

10 Sep 2020 13:40:32
"His knee injury has robbed him of his pace and dynamism. Couple that with the year he missed playing and not having the opportunity to develop his all-round game he is about 2yrs behind for Liverpool"

And despite of all, there are at least 8 clubs interested to take him on loan and or permanently. why are people bringing up this nonsense over and over again? The guy is ten times better than Origi in skillset and he is 5 years younger to him today.

Can I just be very clear mate, There are no offers for Origi. and Liverpool needs funds today. there are offers for brewster and why we are selling him.

10 Sep 2020 15:51:38
Me thinks you do origi a dis service mr lannister, some fans are very forgetful, without a stellar night for origi against Barcelona we would not have won the champions league.

And for the record, I merely understand why the club is thinking of selling, I did not say I wanted him sold!

10 Sep 2020 20:50:31
It is only after reading this thread, that I know understand what they mean when they talk about the onset of mental challenge due to C.V.s and lockdowns. I wish you all a speedy recovery, if ever, LOL.

12 Sep 2020 03:18:31
Just because origi was crucial in beating Barcelona 2 seasons ago doesn't mean he should be given immunity to how he's rated or expected to remain at Liverpool despite not performing. Sinama pongolle and Neil Mellor scored against olympiacos in similar big moment to win CL. Lovren and sakho scored in that memorable Dortmund classic. Smicer in CL final also but we sold them correctly when we accepted that just because they had big moments for us doesn't mean they are likely to offer that again yet can be replaced by someone more likely to contribute consistently in the future. I hate all this origi argument that people base solely on those 4 or 5 weeks in his Liverpool career which he scored big goals in 3 fixtures and forget all the other seasons where he's failed to deliver. As a first choice back up attacker he doesn't give enough. Look at what Greenwood, giroud, martinelli or Jesus return for the other clubs in comparison to what origi Does. I'd expect Brewster to be more likely going forward than origi as that attacking player we need.

{Ed0666's Note - Origi has never been given a fair crack of the whip due to Mane and Firmino. What’s to suggest he couldn’t become a 20 goal a game striker given the opportunity. You know how hard it is to get any rhythm psychologically as a player when you know you’re only gonna play one or two games and then get benched. You’re not playing you’re natural game out of fear and You’ll over compensate and of invariably you’ll make mistakes. Salah, Mane and Bobby no they have the luxury to F*ck up, misplace passes miss chances and they’ll play most games Divvy doesn’t have that peace of mind. He may not be Pele but he’s no Joelton either.
