Well done to Leeds for their effort today, they are the ones to watch this season. A great 3 points. Onto the next.

Salah mate I think they did tremendously well
But I can see them being taken apart by teams going forward as they are way too open
But hopefully they give a good account of themselves
All season long except when we play them lol.

Gaping holes in the defence helped them.

Yeah they were good eh. Better than i expected. I don't see them going down. That harrisons decent eh.

Great 3 points in the end! Harder than I hoped for but credit to Leeds! Thinks to work on but Salah was class and I thought Curtis Jones had a excellent cameo 👏 up the reds.

Hardest game of season for me can't wait to see leeds against man city man utd chelsea etc we were lucky but least that's game 1 out the way!

Couple of players not fully fit in hendo and Trent should help when they are match sharp. Thought keita and Wij could of done more. Jones may push on of them.

Leeds can’t play like that this season, they’ll get torn to bits.
We were pretty horrible, strolling about, but still scored 4 and should have had more.
They press well but it’s overly aggressive in that it leaves them open at the back.
There’s too much pace and quality of attacking talent in the PL for that not to cause Leeds real problems.

I think I'm done with Keita, to be honest. You see a few flashes of what this guy can do and then he disappears for at least 20 minutes before there's another moment from him. He has to turn up and delivery consistently this season or he's got no future here.

Obviously I really hope I get to eat my words about this.

Agree with this flatters to deceive.

I agree something red unfortunately. We were in a real fight today an for me he didn't show.

Having said that 1st game of the season an a lot of our players weren't at the races as we should probably expect.

I wouldn't just write him off suddenly just because he's been poor in first game of the season, in a game where 80% of our players were also below par. Since he regained fitness after injuries and came into the team he was showing that he could have an effect on games more often than he showed previously when injured and unfit. Since being around the team for those chunk of games at the end of last season it's fair to say he outperformed OX, Milner and fabinho and only gini was our better midfielder in terms of consistent good performances.

One thing I thought from a tactical view we seemed today to purposefully give salah as much room once it was clear he was going to have joy. Trent was clearly not looking to get forward and close to salah as normal while it seemed keita may have been asked to drift away free spaces that we always looked to want to open up for salah to get into. He looked more threatening today than in any game last season and it looked like it was on purpose that players set up differently to last year where Trent and usually hendo or OX would play close together and try to outnumber and overlap the defence to get openings. Keita and Trent seemed to shy away from those potential attacks and we saw the huge benefit of salah being lethal when he can get 1v1 without our players dragging extra markers close to him. That type of disciplined role would never get the best of keita who's strenghts are on the ball and not tactically aware to look comfortable as hendo or Milner do so often when asked to be reserved and selfless to benefit the team. It looked to me far too common over 90 mins for it not to be some instruction given early on with the amount of times Trent and keita didn't get involved and instead drifting into areas that made it look like they weren't up for it when they were actually playing a part asked. They would not be the players who would ever look good playing without the aggressive and instinctive traits they use to attack as their best attribute. When Curtis Jones came in he also seemed to operate centrally or more to the left on purpose which saw salah getting more and more. Mane and robbo had one of their quieter days in attack as their areas were overloaded with bodies.

Any of ye also think that was happening as a clear instruction given out during game as soon as salah looked on fire and confident early on? It's harder to get a full picture while watching on t. v. but keita was a always going to draw criticism as he's a player we expect and want to see get on the ball and be effective instead of operating slightly within himself and scrapping for loose balls or in tight areas isn't his strong point.

{Ed0666's Note - the solace I take from today’s game is so many of our boys had an off day so things can only get better.

Something Red I was about to post something similar. If he doesn't do it this season it's time for Liverpool to cut their losses.
