I still think we need to strengthen. I know we haven’t got any any money and will need to sell but if we have to sell, then sell we must. We have conceded 16 goals in our last 9 games! Our season has started the same way it ended, conceding lots of goals. We need a new top CB and with Keita and Gini being very hit and miss, it makes sense to sell one or both and go for Thiago who I think will add a cutting edge that we lack in terms of creativity. As it stands, I think we will be top 4 this season but I don’t think we will win the league, not unless some changes are made anyway. What do you guys/ gals think?

Think we definitely need a pacey winger. That’s the priority for me. Shaqiri will likely leave as will one of Brewster or Origi. So we need a good quality winger to come in.

I wouldn’t mind singing a CM perhaps zakaria as he’s young and seems to be a player that would fit our system.

As for a CB I think we need one Matip for me should be VVD’s partner but is injury prone. And Gomez is still learning. I wouldn’t mind adding a decent CB that’s towards the end of their career just add the extra experience to the back line.

I don't think we should worry too much about the goals just yet, there isn't a back 5 better in the league. Or even one that comes close in my opinion. 1st game of the season, and trent and Henderson only back. We've also decent cover in every position now. I'd usually be calling for another attacking option, but then was watching and waiting for Minamino, origi or someone to be put on against Leeds to inject a bit of energy and something different and it never came. Does it matter if we get someone like Sarr if what we have already don't be called upon when it looked like they were badly needed.

I try not to be too rude here because opinions is what it's about.
. But you point to last season and conceding goals like we had a bad season. We won the league by a country mile. It's one game guys. You all watched it, it was extremely open. You do sound silly pointing to last season and criticising. Did you miss the fireworks.

I can't wait til the open top bus parade, you lot will be running beside it saying "you conceded 9 goals in so and so games, gomez isn't good enough" give me strength. Joe gomez is the best English cb, he is the best cb his age that I know of. Good god, in 3 years he will be absolutely world class. We don't want someone to stand in his way imo. Someone to push him yes. I wouldn't mind a 4th cb, but only if we can get them real cheap.

And gini and keita are now in the same bracket? Hit and miss. Keita maybe (I've not given up. Yet) but gini always plays well. I thought offensively he was excellent. The boys done the business. We need fabhino to get his act together, which he will and we will be fine.

We buy a pacey winger and all of a sudden when does elliot get a game? Coz he has the potential to be world class. Aoc, shaqiri, elliot, origi, minamino. The Ox fast enough for you? Is mino skillful enough for you? Does origi score enough important worldies for you?

If Wilson and brewster are up for sale, what more do you want the club to do?

You lot, the "we need signings" brigade. Do you think Chelsea are a better team than us? Utd? City? If your answer is "no" then what are you yapping about?! If the answer is "yes" (and losing at the bridge will not prove they are better, the league result will. And we'll do them up here anyway) you are simply wrong. @Robbiesline I agree with some of what you're saying. Your point on Gomez is something I wish a lot more fans would see as I really really like him! Sure he can have his moments of lapses (like for example against Leeds I do think he needs to be a bit further back to cover Trent being higher up the pitch and that's why they both were caught having to make runs back) but he's still young as you said! I think I read a stat there after the game that VVD has made the most errors leading to goals in the league? That could be wrong though I'm not entirely sure? But either way my point is that anyone can make mistakes or have an off day but you don't give up on that player when for the most part they've been rather excellent!

However after that I have to disagree with some of what you've said? Gini for me has significantly dropped off in performances and for me he is the one player in the starting 11 that can be replaced for a better player? I think back to when he first joined and his linkup play with Lallana specifically was fantastic! He chipped in with his fair share of goals and assists. Now yes you can argue that his role has changed since his first/ second season but for me there shouldn't be one player in the starting 11 who's role is to specifically "win the ball back" or "keep the ball" and so on. that's the job our whole midfield does? Henderson and Fabinho do what he does aaaand more? Gini's performances have been quite frustrating in fact? You said he played well offensively against Leeds? I saw him miss a pretty decent chance that I would think he'd bury if he was playing for the Netherlands? I saw him sit around the box yes. but then that left the guys with the ball no option to pass to in our build up? He's 29, into his last year of his contract and I can't say I know why that's the case. But you've got Naby there who yes hasn't performed fantastic considering what we saw at Leipzig, despite it being a different league and system/ style he's playing in, but he's still younger and I've seen some good moments from him to think that with a run of games and confidence he could offer something important to our midfield that Gini does not? Heck I'd be happy starting Jones over Gini, that's how I little confidence I have in him at the moment?

As for the winger situation, I like Elliot yes but he's younger than the other boys and will get his time soon? When you take away our front three you're left with Origi, Minamino, and Elliot/ Shaqiri? For me Ox should play in midfield as that's where I think his better performances have come from? Brewster hasn't got his chance unfortunately and I like him but we can't rely on that when we don't know what's going to happen with him? Shaqiri doesn't get his opportunities and I don't know why? Maybe it's his training, maybe he doesn't do enough off the ball for the team when he plays? I do quite like him though as he usually comes up with a goal or assist in important times? And for me Minamino plays much better with our usual front three rather than with Origi? Also what happens when we lose players for the AFCON? It doesn't hurt to have decent backup to come in and offer something different or new and refreshing to this team when we stagnate and struggle at times? No one's asking for world class backups to replace most of the squad, just those that can come in to improve and rejuvenate a little?

I know this is a long reply and I apologize for that haha but last season I think a lot of people forget certain games we just got over the line? I recall Leicester and Aston Villa as the big ones that spring to mind? At Utd we weren't that good? Sheffield was a 1-0, Wolves were unlucky against us. I don't think it's too greedy to ask for a backup winger and maybe an improvement on Gini and that's it? Anyway I'll leave it there or else this may turn out to be a boom at this rate hahaha.

Rose tinted glasses lads! We need more quality we’ve too many sick notes that need shipping! We got lucky with our injuries last season and it’s a big ask on the same players again this season! Along with no pressure on our front 3 and cbs We need to keep them Fighting for a place not just turning up and getting one! Just my penny’s worth! We won it well last season won’t be the same this season! Capitalise while we are on top!

I am neither for the "we don't need anyone" nor the "we need signings " brigades. Because I see both sides and I could probably argue for both. For me it's a highly subjective decision that is best left to the group or the main men at LFC, which brought us back to the top.

Reasoning behind not needing anyone is basically the classic "if it's not broken, why fix it"? And we won by a large margin of points, last season. Within two seasons we went up almost 30 points with essentially the same players against a team (ManC) who also played with essentially the same players.

Reasoning for freshening up the squad is just to look at Man C last year. They had won it for two years with the same core and a third year seemed just too far away for them. Maybe complacency, maybe lack of motivation, maybe lack of hunger. This could hit our players at any time, And look at how Sir WhiskyNose put together that decade plus of success. He was always adding and subtracting players. Always tinkering with a combination of young and established players, regardless of whether they won or finished just behind. Never sitting still. Yo can laugh and scoff because I'm talking about rival teams, but history doesn't lie.

League champions, 2 champions league finals with one winners medal.

One of the best club teams in the world these last 3 years. All achieved with this same manager and group of players of which the vast majority are at peak age.

It’s fair to say other teams have tried to strengthen and the gap between the winner and the rest shouldn’t be as big as last season.

In my opinion, apart from Man City all other prem teams would bite our arm off to swap squads manager and form.
We are the team to beat, we are the champions. I trust in what we have to win it again. It seems some fans criticise regardless of the result or trophies won.

I thought Gomez defending was very poor for Leeds first goal, had an excellent 2and half, but we do need a partner for VVD or maybe start Matip. Gomez switches off time and again.

Biggy Balls, you are free to want who you want and that is fine. But as I always ask, where is the money going to come from to sign these players you are saying we should sign?

You are aware that if we could sign players, we would have already signed a few already so if that has not happened, what ia the point of saying who we should sign, knowing full well that we can't. I just see that as an exercise in futility and a waste of time debating fiction. Just my take.

Robbiesline, firstly you’re right. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Yes we won the league by 7 games, although I’m not sure it would have been by that many had Chelsea not done us a favour. Secondly, regardless of when they won the league, these players are professional, very well paid athletes, and if you play for this club (or any club for that matter), you should always put in 100% every time you play, something you clearly think is not warranted. because ‘we won the league so early’! Also no one is talking about a major overhaul we need a couple of players potentially to not only freshen the side up but also move us forward. In this league, you cannot rest on your laurels for too long. We have the advantages of a settler title-winning squad but sometimes that can also cause complacency when you aren’t challenged for yourrespective position, and this is was is creeping into our game with some of the goals we are conceding. Finally Keita has had plenty of opportunities to establish himself but he hasn’t taken them. He was pulling out of tackles in that game against Leeds, no midfielder with a desire to play for this great club should be doing that. Gini didn’t have the best of games either, and that’s the problem with him, on his day, he is excellent, but those days aren't regular enough. I rate him but sometimes sacrifices have to be made to progress/ advance.

I don't ask for this or that player cos it does not matter what you or I want, we are broke. Waste of time, IMO but you are free to post your feelings as we all do. I just disagree with it.
