See loads of people complaining about not getting Werner because jota is going to cost similar.
First of all I think jota although maybe not as high profile, not as consistent yet suits our play much more. Werner would have had to be a sub who gave us a plan b as he plays number 9 completely different to Bobby as rather than creating space for the wingers he would occupy their space.
Secondly Werner was agreed months ago when we had agreed no sales. From the sudden activity and rumours I am assuming the club are no confident of offloading one or two to fund these purchases.
Thirdly I'm not convinced Werner would have wanted to move to challenge for a starting spot or sit on the bench I think he would have wanted guaranteed starting place.
Finally the cost is not the same as it is rumoured we are paying a lot less up front for jota than they wanted upfront for Werner as well as his wages which would have been much higher than jotas.
If we come out of a window when we have just won the league and bought a left back who looks good back up, a world class midfielder and a dangerous winger with premier league experience I would be delighted. We lacked back up for robbo and Trent, we lacked a little creativity sometimes in midfield and didn't have much quality of the front 3 were injured. With Minamino settling, Jones and Williams breaking through and signing Thiago, jota and Tsimikas to me we have sorted all those issues and look strong for the season ahead.

I would be more than happy with Jota - excellent player and proven in the Premier League.

In an ideal world but don’t see the point getting an ok cb.
If they aren’t going to push pressure on Gomez, vvd then I would leave it and if any injury problems use the young players or Fabinho since we have lots of midfielders. I don’t think we can afford someone better than Gomez or Matip when at his best so I can’t see the point in signing anyone else.
