Was just wondering what ed001 thought of Jamie Carraghers supposed remarks regarding Alisson yesterday? (His form is a bit of a concern and basically liverpool have had Simon Mignolet in goal for last 12 games)
I agree his form may have slightly dipped and at beginning of season he seemed to be saving us quite a few points but to say its like having Mignolet in goal jus screams "sky corporate nonsense" trying to make bull stories from f-all. Not once has Alisson looked but cool, calm and collected. The defence clearly trusts him and a ball passed back to him now doesn't result in complete panic like it did when mignolet was between the sticks, his commanding of his area is exceptional and I genuinely don't think he has missed a cross or catch that has been his to claim. He starts so many attacks off with his passing and quick thinking so to say such comments makes me wonder, was it him saying these things or has he turned into another sky yes man and been told to say them?
Cheers for reading and answering ed001.

{Ed001's Note - Carra is just being a dick and doing the Robbie Savage/Roy Keane/Talkshi** approach to punditry. In other words trying to be controversial for the sake of it. There is no comparison to Mignolet, other than they both play in the same position and are very likeable people. Mignolet was a mess for Liverpool (good to see he has done well since moving back to Belgium though), he was absolutely unable to use his feet and would not even make simple saves. Alisson has gone from making superhuman saves to just being a very good solid goalkeeper with great distribution. A dip in form for Alisson just means he is merely human but still one of the best keepers around. It just looks worse because of how highly he set his bar for performances. It is still miles ahead of Migs, but a long way from his best. Hopefully the penalty save will be a boost that helps him return to form.}

Just before kick off Carragher said that Fabinho and Van Dijk did well against Lewandowski the other year, but that they were going up against a better player in Timo Werner. It's like he's never watched a game before at times.

Carragher is clueless. He shouldn't even have got his job back after spit-gate, even if he knew what he was talking about.

I like carra as a pundit but think sky may be instructing their pundits to be more outlandish with their claims.

On the subject of sky they have to stop using former players commentating on their own games. Listening to Neville (good pundit) but when it came to the decisions there was no element of trying to be impartial.

If anything that penalty save will boost his confidence now.
The thing is people judge our defense on games when we had already won the league. The 7 games we played after that you can expect a little foot off the gas and the goals we conceded were hardly anything Alison could have done about anyways.
Before that Alison was straight fire till the break bar the watford game where again cannot blame him for any of the three goals then.
I do see though where this talk of under performing is coming up with pundits. Its because several keepers in the league have been severely under performing costing their club points and Alison is being lined up there too just was content.
I don't think since he has arrived we have conceded any goal that can be solely blamed on Alison.
And i hope we support the lad and don't be stupid like pundits. Mignolet was fine for two years with us very good keeper. Then a couple of blunders and he was ripped into. His confidence was shot and he could never come back.
As a keeper myself i can tell you keeping is 90 percent confidence. 8 percent reading what's in front of you and 2 percent actual ability. When you are confident you react and make decisions you don't have to double think your move. Once doubt creeps in your mind, judgement is dead. Its happening with kepa at the moment.
Keepers have the most thankless job anyway but it only adds when you know your every move is under scrutiny.

Carra is getting much love here lol.

{Ed025's Note - i cant stand the guy, total arsehole who i lost any respect for after the disgusting spitting incident TL, one odious little irk in my book mate..

21 Sep 2020 11:12:26
Never rated him as a player either ED025. If he wasn't from the city he would be playing championship football.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he was a bad player mate, not the most gifted but gave 100% all the time, its the man rather than the footballer i abhor harry..

21 Sep 2020 11:21:19
Lacked pace and awareness and could only pay for a team like Rafa. was bang average for many years. couldn't pass a football to save his life either, could he? what was he good at? Rafa knew it from the first day.

21 Sep 2020 11:43:18
The revision of history going on in this thread is utterly nauseating and some of the posters should be ashamed. You might not like Cara but he was the epitome of the team for a few years. Socks down, desperately fighting cramp, trying to keep us in the game at 3:3 - have you all forgotten already?

Of course he’ll come out with some crap, he works for Sly, but he’s still a Red, or has the meaning of YNWA been thrown away for your convenience?

{Ed025's Note - anyone who spits at people deserves to walk alone ND..

Really gone off Carragher since the spitting incident. Having to hear him, Gary Neville and Martin Tyler on almost every Liverpool game irks me.

21 Sep 2020 11:53:09
Yet Rafa had him as first choice centre back for how many seasons?
You have a penchant for talking sh*te a lot of the time, but you've outdone yourself this time.

21 Sep 2020 12:02:51
Thanks to the Academy. Ability wise he was on level terms with Martin Skrtel.

21 Sep 2020 12:08:54
I think Angel Di Maria needs to be behind bars for spitting in that OM game. after just being cleared for corona too.

21 Sep 2020 12:50:25
Tyrion mate, that is a heads gone. Carragher is a disgrace for spitting and an awful pundit, but he was our best centre back from about 2007-2012. His Hyypia and Agger partnerships were class.

21 Sep 2020 13:12:30
You are a overboarding mate. He was okay in a team that defends deep. He can't pass, why we had Agger and Alonso. He has zero pace. His awareness was very poor for a center back. The Liverpool connection did the job for him.

21 Sep 2020 13:19:51
Carragher - A championship footballer? Wow! It seems you did a Carra there.
Toeing carra's line in making outlandish claims may be!

21 Sep 2020 13:22:56
Assuming Tyrion Lannister is Harry? Mad how a city fan is coming on here telling all of us that a club legend who was an excellent centre back for years was only good enough for the championship, as if us humble little scouse folk are so stupid as to only rate players because they like us, even if they have no ability. Have a day off lad it’s boring.

21 Sep 2020 13:23:08
I'm not even getting drawn into this debate. Carragher couldn't pass? Wow.

21 Sep 2020 14:47:41
Whilst I can agree carragher let himself down during spit Gate and a few questionable punditry claims as a lfc player he is a legend, he basically shows that talent isn't everything. Whilst he wasn't the quickest, best in the air or a master passer he was still decent at all of above. His desire, commitment couldn't be questioned and he truly made the most of his career.

21 Sep 2020 15:48:43
Well said Kjmainstreet84 and couldn't agree more. He stuffed up with the spitting incident but show me any man who hasn't made a mistake or done something they regret in their life. If he kept doing it then that's a different story but he's only human and everyone deserves a second chance.

21 Sep 2020 16:27:40
Ed025, you're a top guy and tr legend. All players spit at each other in games. OK not all. But it happens every week.

ND, I totally agree. The guy is a red. Who, like Gerrard, never played for another club. In fact carra only played for Liverpool bar loans as a kid. Gezza played for la. He was brilliant. I'd hate to have gone up against him as you know 100% he's going to crunch you.

Alisson is a god. Can do no wrong. I don't think it's his fault at all I just think he's facing more shots than he did before and probably because of the dip in form of fab and slightly vvd.

{Ed025's Note - all players dont spit at each other robbie...animals do mate, now i know hes an ex player and and your red spectacles wont allow you to see anything wrong with an ex red, but dont try and defend the indefensible, i would sooner be smacked in the face than spat at...its disgusting..

21 Sep 2020 20:10:09
Do you not feel everyone makes mistakes Ed and as long as it isn't a common thing then it can be forgiven? I'm not going to go down the "whataboutism" route but surely everyone deserves a second chance after a stupid mistake?

{Ed025's Note - the thing is bledd a guy called hitler only started one war...and hes not getting forgiveness either mate..

22 Sep 2020 15:13:56
Haha ok ed I see your logic. I think.
