Morning all! I hope everyone is well.

I am so excited at the prospect of Curtis Jones. Like many, I believe he is the real deal.

Question for Ed001, if you could compare him to any player (past or present) who would it be?

He does remind me a little of a certain little magic Brazilian playing in Barcelona currently, but I am interested to hear what you think!

{Ed001's Note - he reminds me of Curtis Jones personally.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed!

Just wondering who I can compare him too and see how he could potentially fit in our system or how he could evolve/ improve etc.

{Ed001's Note - comparing players doesn't do that, just look at what he does and doesn't do, that is how to see what he could fit into.}

I guess I meant who I can compare him to just out of interest and the question on fitting him into our system was a separate query. He fits in quite easily currently.

I'll leave it be. Thanks Ed, have a good one.

Don't think comparing players is a good idea and besides the boy looks different to what is around.

He reminds me of Ross Barkley but with a footballing brain.

28 Sep 2020 13:29:16
LOL Champs or any brain.

OP he reminds you of Rafinha? That's interesting.
Or you don't mean Coutinho do you? He'll be way better than him pretty soon. It never ceases to amaze me that people so easily forget just how inconsistent Coutinho was. Every time before a game and every time he got the ball it felt more like hope than expectation. Hence him not fitting our system.

Curtis Jones 2020 reminds me of a young Curtis Jones.
(I live in 2025 and he's absolutely brilliant now. Oh and don't worry guys, all is right with the world and yes, Liverpool are still champions! ) :D.

Ah everyone is an individual mate, what will be will be, he looks special in his own way, it's far too early to start comparing. He needs to make a name for himself not what he's compared to, I believe he has the potential to do this, we shall see.

Jurgen Meister - It is that Coutinho fella. Forgot his first name, Phillip or something? If Curtis can replicate what Coutinho did in his time at Liverpool he will have been a success though, for me anyway! Also, please tell me Klopp has signed a lifetime contract and is still managing us in 2025?

Salah - For sure, the good news is Klopp is giving him some good chances and if he can improve under anyone it'd be Jurgen. Exciting times.

Agreed mate.

Yep don't worry, cm. Jurgen signed a one year extension to his contract because he wanted to stick around to see us through to winning the treble-treble. He's still at the club now, just transitioning to a less hands-on and high-stress role. Meanwhile, Pep Lijnders is taking all press conferences and media duties because Klopp misread Bobby's text and dyed his hair white and his teeth purple.

Reminds me of a young gazza, a bit.

I think he’s quite different to many modern players as doesn’t really rely on pace or physicality, but has excellent read of the game, brilliant close control, good vision and awareness of space, excellent passing and an eye for scoring goals.

Long was off it yet as he’s such a young lad, but perhaps might develop into a role similar to that filled by Iniesta or David Silva?

28 Sep 2020 17:02:35
Thank goodness for that JM. How much money has Pep spent on defenders at City now?

SGRed- I did think Iniesta too, but I feel like he will get lots of goals. Iniesta didn't score too much. He's like a blend of Lampard and Iniesta!

Curtis Jones has his own path to follow and let's all hope he does, but if I had to stick my neck out I would say his ability to think faster than the opposition, read game so intelligently, great eye for goal, awareness of players positions including opposition, unselfish when others in a better position, humility and willingness to learn, huge confidence in his own skill, natural creative player and deep love of LFC.
I'm not saying he is the same, but he does remind me of a young player all those years ago who didn't have massive pace, or huge strength.
But they named an LFC stand after him!
