Andy Robertson: “When our crowd sung that song ["We're going to win the league"] as emphatically as they did we had to believe it, of course we did. If you said you didn’t believe it, you’d be lying. ”

“Actually, there may have been one exception: Jordan Henderson. ”

"During this period Hendo was so focused and driven that I don’t think he could have got caught up in the excitement if someone had knocked at his door with the trophy and said it was done. To say he was in the zone would be one of the understatements of the season. At Melwood, his influence was absolute. He literally didn’t have to say anything. He could have remained silent because the example he was setting on the training pitch and in games was so powerful that words were no longer required. He got us through some of those games with a combination of strength of character and individual talent. He just took it to another level, showing just why he is captain of this club by keeping us all together and being our leading force. "

“He deserves greater credit for his ability. When I retire I'll look back and say he was one of the most underrated players I played with. Take away his leadership, work-rate, and effort - his footballing quality is good enough to captain and play for one of the great LFC teams. ”

Boom, what a captain we have in Hendo.

Such lovely words. He writes very eloquently, for a Scotsman. ;)

{Ed025's Note - yeah he could make a lego set sound like the elgin marbles JM.. :)

I really think he deserved player of the season. Kdb was better after the break, but ghat was only 8 games. Before the break there was only one man - Henderson.

Robbo is right, Henderson was world class last season. He just was.

Without a shadow of a doubt Robbie mate, what you say is correct and yes it goes on the season as a whole and overall he was the most important player on any pitch last season. I have no doubt he will be the same this season, the lad is bloody quality.

I'll never forget we signed him for what, was it 20m? And I remember thinking what are we signing him for! Hahaha how wrong was I, who'd of thought at the time he'd of got this big? Legend in my eyes, a true legend.

The level Hendo went up after we signed Naby was massive. Now we’ve signed Thiago he actually could become even better!

Nice one, Salah. Frankly, I did not need t read that testimony from Robbo about Captain Legend. If anyone has been paying any attention, you could see how important Hendo is to this team and the club as a whole. As I said earlier, We may lose with Hendo BUT We will NOT win WITHOUT Hendo. Just facts.

As robbo said it was obvious that Henderson was focused completely on ignoring any title talk until we crossed the line. He faced months being asked or expected to give his thoughts on the inevitable moment but seemed to be on a mission to always shut it out.

I think it's the fact that he experienced the 13/ 14 season where we all got sucked into the excitement and this year he probably was determined to do the exact opposite, no way was he going to let himself show that emotion publicly that our players back then did with each passing game.

It was nice that the only player still in our squad from that season was the captain this time and knew how to manage the huge pressure of fan expectancy the closer we get.

I don't think our performance levels would have been allowed to drop like they did after we sealed the title if Henderson had been fit and involved for those remaining games.
