Ok thanks for your views guys on the keeper situation you have enlightened me about the general feeling on the subject and adrian has my support fully but with caution Haha .
Do we think klopp will drop that high line? because it was horribly exposed and we were sitting ducks the whole match . Players have too be on there toes in that system and watching the line but the other night we completely gambled that it was perfectly safe and weren't prepared be on safety alert whatsoever an as a result getting sliced open for fun .
Klopps managerial skills are going to be tested too the fullest and I am looking forward too see what he has in the utility belt .

Hailstones, with no pressure on the ball, the high line is useless. It would not have mattered had we dropped a few yards deeper, IMO. With no pressure on the ball and with our midfielders who could not b arsed to stick the boot in, make tackles, get stuck in and hassle the other team into coughing up the ball (something we are the best at), we were sitting ducks and got diced like onions.

The high press is there to not just put pressure on the opposition BUT to also protect the defence from being exposed esp. a defence where Big Virg and Gomez and TAA are seriously struggling for form. We have Adrian right now so Klopp has to concoct a system to accommodate his strengths and limit his weaknesses like dropping 5 yards deeper, pass him the ball as little as possible and have him boot it up the pitch instead of passing the ball to the opposition. It can b done so I expect some tweaks in the next game.

The high line isn’t the problem, that’s just sky highlighting it for a story and it’s easy to whinge about.

The issue was no pressure was being put on in midfield so our defence were sitting ducks. Then the back four (VVD in particular) didn’t notice the danger which compounded the issue.

The amount of times we catch teams offside shows how well it works but it needs the pressing in midfield to help.

If you want to play the high line you need quick cbs. Matip isn't anywhere near as quick as gomez. I think klopp wanting a cb and a starter, I don't think that necessarily means he wants someone to replace gomez. Klopp would have called lovren a starter. Matip a starter. And gomez a starter. Managers like klopp do not have a definite 11 in mind when thinking of their team.

Playing with different tactics and against different strategies and injuries requires different types of player.

That's not to say klopp won't have a favoured 11, what he considers his strongest team at that point. But this changes as players form changes.

I don't believe klopp doesn't trust gomez. I think we lost lovren and klopp feels we need four senior cbs. Finances, fabhino and thiago siuation and some promising youngsters probably made him look at different positions, jota.

And of course klopp, if he signed a cb, would want that player to make the first team, I'm sure you hope that of all your signings and players.

I really hope that debacle the other night gives this defence a wake up call. We need to show the grit and determination it took to win the premier league if we want to retain it.

After watching the game again I have to agree with Eds1 we didn’t have a leader on the park vvd should have demanded more, maybe not in his make up? If so never give him the armband.

I don't think the high line was the problem either, but a high line with no pressure on the ball spelled trouble. I think the big problem was an ineffective midfield, not that they can't do it, but on the day the 3 of them were terribly ineffective.

Acered, VVD not being a leader is also part of the many problems last Sunday. VVD can be capt. when everything is working fine like it did vs Chelsea and Arsenal. But things get hot like vs Leeds and Villa, his lack of leadership qualities are abundantly clear. This is not a dig on VVD. It is just who he is and leadership is not his thing.

I just think our defenders bar Robbo, are just not playing well right now and/ or are struggling for form, fitness and sharpness cos their performances as a group have been stop-start. Same with the midfield.

Therefore if guys are trying to get focus on their individual performances then, it is only normal that collectively, a meltdown like Sunday is on the cards cos NOBODY was focused on the task at hand collectively. It felt like everyone was just doing his own thing. No graft. No competitive nous. Ducking out of challenges I mean, the whole lot. That has to change.

Yes guys again interesting opinions on the high line if the pressing in midfield and attack is right our line can be more effective, the whole system needs to be functioning as rd meister mentioned the midfield couldn't give a toss about pressing and tackling which is the worry in itself hopefully when thiago an hendo back our midfield has too improve.

Why wasn’t Milner not bought on earlier? Defensively he is better than all those who played on Sunday. He took Keita off which was fair but kept Wijnaldum lol who was abysmal for the whole 90 minutes.

Keep blaming players when the manager is paid to change the team during a play.
This high line is not something the players chose themselves but being asked up on by the coaches and manager. If it was failing why did they not change it?
Sorry but something is not right.
