Anyone seen Tom Brewitt’s confession on BBC this morning, saying he purposefully injured Daniel Cleary to get a first team game?
Saying he’s not even ashamed of his actions!
Nasty piece of work right there.

I would've thought that sort of thing happened all the time in training?

I would like to think common assault isn’t a regular training ground incident.

Me too Tristan. I totally agree with you, wasn't trying to contradict you. Players literally try to break players legs every weekend.

Anyone remember that utd youngster that broke an opponents leg, ended his career i think and was banned from Pro football.

Spot on, Robbie. I remember when living in France, there were stories about youngsters in the academy, saying they would purposefully injure a player if it helped them break thru into the first team and get a pro contract. Pretty rampant, really even tho I believe it is despicable and disgusting.

Its hard to expect much from Utd youngsters when they had serial aggressors like Roy Keane as an example.

I was an apprentice at Reading in the mid 90s. Can attest that training was always highly competitive and heavy challenges did happen. Maybe 1-2 out of our group of around 20+ would make first team and everyone knew that it was you or them to get a call up. I don't believe there was anything malicious at the end of the day, we were mates. Personally I never thought of injuring a teammate to gain any advantage, but apparently some have.

They were Liverpool youngsters Gini.

Even Gerrard said when he was coming through playing reserves vs first team. He said he wanted to absolutely bully his man.
