So the unfortunate news to VVD has been confirmed, I think everyone in football wishes the lad a speedy recovery. Injuries are part of the game but no one wants to see them.

As for us, let's prove the doubters wrong and attack the league like we promised. Klopp asked us to be believers and its times like this its required.

We still have a quality side now let's try and win every game we can and please don't get on the backs of matip and gomez there job is hard enough without our own fans questioning them!

Agree6 Disagree0

Injuries happen but they shouldn’t happen from a thick of a keeper And knee high tackles! his career may nvr lift off again could be forever injury prone ( just saying)

I hope the big man a speedy recovery absolutely gutted!

Great post WYred. Everyone said if we get an injury to VVD we would crumble so let’s prove them wrong and win the league. I believe in Klopp and believe in these players. Yes it’s a massive loss and yes I am gutted but that’s football unfortunately. Allison coming back will be MASSIVE. Imagine we win the league under these circumstances, it would be even better and certainly sweeter than last seasons title win. In Klopp I trust!

Am absolutely gutted for the lad especially in the circumstance that he got the injury. Team wise there is always a possibility that a player can get an injury like this and I do feel like we are going regret not signing a CB After letting lovren go but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
VVD hardly ever missed a game so we have got to dig deep now because I can’t see matip staying fit for long.

Totally agree lads.

Main points. Yes a big loss.

Yes I think in jan CB is the priority, so only two months.

We can manage between now and then. I’m hoping this sees the emergence of one of Williams, Van Den Berg or evening Koumetio.

Onwards and upwards.

I understand where you coming from but I fully expect Klopp to want a major January CB signing now. 100%.
We will change the way we play I think, either fab splitting the defenders or far less attacking from the fullbacks.
He’s our best player by a mile.

Well said WY, sad to see this happen to any of our players but we'll be just fine, I have no doubt about it. Good news is Alissons recovery is better than expected and Thiago's injury isn't as bad as we feared.

It was a daft challenge and VVD has paid the price but people have been injured in lesser tackles and some have come away better from worse tackles. The one on Thiago made me cringe I genuinely thought it was a leg breaker.

The point is nothing us fans can do other then back the team, Pickford May get a ban but it won’t change the result of heal VVD’s knee.

What will be will be and let’s see where this crazy season take us.

Spot on, WYRed. As someone who had his knee pulverized completely during an NFL football accident (snapping my tendon and breaking my knee cap), I guessed VVD would be out of the season after watching. I wish him a speedy recovery and a great comeback. It is going to be a long hard road back and the hope is if he can get very close to his best, he is STILL a top CB, IMO.

For us now, it time to pick up the pieces and move on with the season. Trying to win the title is NOT what we need to be focusing on right now cos judging by the results, it is WIDE open. We have to focus on healing. Get Thiago and Big Al back fit. Get TAA fit as well cos the kid w/ o any preseason, is still struggling. Klopp will find away to make us better as that is what he does. He is NOT Pep who can only solve issues with an open checkbook.

As for us fans, time to get behind the team. Enuff of the revisionist history nonsense of "See, I knew we needed a new CB in the summer" or any of that mess. Miss me with that crap. It is time to prove to the world that we are LFC and not one player even the brilliant VVD, will hinder us from challenging to retain our title. Let us show them that if any team wants our crown, They had better be ready to get down and dirty with us cos we ain't going NOWHERE. Red Till I'm Dead!

I am not bitter about the bitters, but look we should have expected some aggressive play from them,
I hope that we bring in a quality replacment for VVD in January
our hand might be forced if we drop more points than we thought, let's hope Ali is back soon, Adrian is a decent goalie but not good enough for Liverpool .

18 Oct 2020 21:44:49
Kop that, there is nothing bitter about stating facts. Yes, Everton have started the season well. Yes, Everton have some good players and a great manager. Yes, two Everton players were reckless in their challenges on our boys and got them injured. One of them should also have been sent off for assault and per Ed25, should still be in a jail cell right now. Many things can be correct at the same time. Nothing bitter about that, mate.

18 Oct 2020 22:13:43
Red, we are all struggling right now with so many key injuries,
so I think that you took my bit on . bitter about the bitters, meaning everton, the wrong way,
I was hinting strongly about the aggressive type of football everton played,
we have one Key player facing a major operation on his knee, and our new arrival Thiago getting a set of studs in his knee,
so my post was just my say on how I saw the match unfold, it had nothing to do with your post,
I do agree with you on TAA, he should really have done better with their 2nd goal,
and yes we will have to defend with our back line at least five yards further back,
both Hendo and TAA, also Fab were knackered last ten minutes, Klopp def has to tweak the team a bit, and let's hope that his plan B works .

18 Oct 2020 22:34:27
Fair enuff, Kop That.

18 Oct 2020 23:51:13
no problem Red, think most of us are on the same page,
I thought that Matip played quite well, considering that he had been out for a while,
I have a feeling that VVD, will be back for the business end of the season,
Fab will cover in the back four when needed, Thiago, what a player, will own the midfield,
with Ali back in goal, we will be in the mix,
going to be an interesting season .
