Ed001 what do you make of Jones' performance last night? I have big hopes for the lad but I think this was potentially his weakest showing for Liverpool. He is still a young lad so hopefully its just a minor blip of form for him.

On a side note - does Rhys Williams have the worst hairstyle in the liverpool squad? Get a haircut son!

Red Sandman.

{Ed001's Note - it is early days for him and it was a tough game for his type of player. It needed a more Hendo/Milner type than him. He will come good.}

I thought last nights game was good for Jones. Its definitely a step up for him and that is what's needed in the education of young footballers. So far he has played in cup games against either lesser opposition or other weakened premier league teams. In those games he's always looked elegant and had time on the ball. Last night not so much but as i said its a great learning curve for him as i think he will have a good career with us. Just needs to keep his head down and work for it as these days so many youngsters fall to the way side after being given it all too early and start to believe their own hype. For me though he is under the best man manager in world football so i'm sure he will stay grounded.

Definetly an experience Jones will be the better for, it can't always be good but he has the right mentality to bounce back and a load of talent.

What did you think of Ajax's Lisandro Martinez Ed001 last night?

{Ed001's Note - disappointed in him as I had heard so much about him but he didn't really impress.}

The lad is only 19 and is learning his trade and we should be patient with him, he looks like he got the skills, he got the confidence he just needs the experience and on that last point Liverpool seem to be doing a good job in his development.

I think that even tho that game was not for a player of Jones' skill set IMO, BUT I thought he did his best cos it was not like he was drowning or anything like that. He will learn from this cos this is the highest level of club football you can play at and it will only help him moving forward.

RM you managed to get a stream then?

Remember when we signed per shuurs and then he pulled out and signed for ajax and we signed vdb? I think it's fair to say our first pick would've been the better option vdb is a beanpole and shuurs is a man.

Thanks, JK23. I did. Big Up to Da Don Irish Rover, for hooking a brother up with the streaming website. It was from Dutch TV so commentaries were in Dutch BUT since I am pretty fluent in Flemish here in Belgium, it was NO problem following the game.

Once again Mad Props to Irish Rover, for the hook Up.

I felt Jones just played a bit within himself, which isn’t surprising given the occasion. He also has a bit to learn on the defensive side of the game, but overall great experience and he’s going to be a cracking player.

Ed001 - think I saw Ed002 say we had looked at Martinez, he looked good on the ball similar to Mascherano when he was played there for Barcelona but I really don’t think with our style of play and aerial threats in England he would be suited, Schuurs seemed the better of the two from the showing last night.
