Am I missing something? Every team targets Gomez because up until now he has only ever played with VVD as a CB on a consistent run of games. And VVD was not only the best CB in the league but also was a genuine contender for Balloon D'Or which is given for the best player in the world.



Also at the same age as Gomez, wasn't VVD still playing for Celtic and hadn't even managed a single international cap for a not so spectacular Holland team?

I don't think Gomez is one of the best CB in the world but there aren't many better than him at his age or younger.
