What would be everybodies top cbs we have available?

Gomez
Matip
Fabhino
Rhys williams
Vdb

I was tempted to put fab at 2 as we haven't conceded a lawful goal in 3 games. The only game was a penalty which wasn't a pen.

Sorry shouldn't have been give.

In fairness to Matip he just can’t keep seem to keep fit and Fab has done a really good job filling In. But let’s not forget 2 seasons ago Matip played a massive part in the league and us winning the CL. 3 games at the back for Fab doesn’t outshine that achievement from Matip. And let’s be honest Robbie if we were to make that same comparison with Jota’s last 3 games and Bobby you would be the first to throw your toys out of the pram and accuse people of not supporting the players. But That doesn’t obviously apply to Matip.

If everyone is fit it's gomez and Fabinho for me. I have nothing against Matip but from what I've seen, Fabinho does a better job. Time will tell of course, still very early.

I prefer Fabinho in Midfield. He should always be in our best 11 in my opinion. So I would have Matip and Gomez.

It would still be one of the best CB pairings in the league, however the issue is fitness.

Matip, Gomez when everyone is fit. In my opinion Matip is the best defender Liverpool have got in VVD's absence; of course Gomez has some attributes which are better than Matip, but after VVD, Matip's name comes to my mind. Rhys is next in line and haven't seen much of VDB to comment on yet except that he may want to build more muscle mass to compete. And Billy is a big boy. and looks quite confident with the ball.

Gomez
Matip
Fabinho
Phillips
Rhys Williams
Sepp VdB
Billy the kid.

LFCDas, while agreeing with you about Matip being an overall better CB than Gomez, I would place Nat Philips before Rhys Williams. Why he hasn't been played ahead of Williams recently, is a question I can't answer.

30 Oct 2020 18:12:02
Why would anyone place Phillips above Williams when Klopp clearly thinks the opposite? Have you even seen Phillips play? Or is it just because he is a couple of years older?

{Ed001's Note - he did play a lot in the Bundesliga last season, so plenty of chances for people to watch him. Also he has a lot more experience due to that, which could be why people would prefer him.}

30 Oct 2020 18:45:59
At optimal fitness levels, Matip and Gomez are the best CB pairing. Fabinho is far more effective, and needed, in midfield.

30 Oct 2020 21:19:56
It wasn't the Bundesliga that Phillip's played though was it it was the division below and they got promoted.

{Ed001's Note - it is still part of the Bundesliga, I just missed a 2 off the front is all. It was a mistake.}

@ArAy1969 You are right. Somehow, I had forgotten about Nat. I think Klopp may have played him in the champions league had he been registered. I think they were quite confident about off boarding him this season which obviously didn't happen.

31 Oct 2020 07:41:19
Spot on, Ed01. Phillips would be my choice for those very reasons.

31 Oct 2020 08:25:35
If there all fit Gomez Andy Matip every time for me with Fabinho back in midfield. As for Phillips or Williams I would go with what Klopp goes with as he see’s them train every day.

31 Oct 2020 10:44:09
Why bother mentioning Fabinho and Matip, if they are not fit?
You may as well mention VvD.

31 Oct 2020 13:02:46
Klopp pretty much admitted that they thought they were transferring him in the summer and it fell through. Not in the plans, but a good enough option if needed -- which seems like Rhys is the preferred man, especially long term. Wouldn't cry about it if he wound up on the pitch, mind you.
