What a performance that was tonight. Watched extended highlights again and must say was a performance that oozed confidence. Speaking of confidence this young Rhys Williams was OUSTANDING for his first start in champs league, his use if the ball and his composure was quite a thing from such a young man. Earlier on I said Nat Phillips should look forward to play against city Sunday now im not so sure after Rhys performance. I will go on record and say I have been quite critical of J Gomez this season and was beginning to think maybe fabinho and matip might be the pairing moving forward but got to say thoughy tonight he gave a proper mature performance and played really well. If I may ask ed001 how would you go Sunday? Let's say thiago is passed fit would you throw him straight in or go with millie/ hendo/ gini? Then the top 3 conundrum who would you start up there? Really don't envy klopp with picking his front 3.🤣🤣.

{Ed001's Note - just don't ask me questions, I can't be arsed with everyone telling me I am wrong if I give an opinion.}

🤣🤣 no worries Ed, enjoy the rest of your evening.

If you’re talking about the Gerrard slip post Ed we are not telling you that your opinion is wrong at all. We are telling you that you are factually wrong because beating Palace 3-0 would not have won us the league.
I hope I speak for all when I say that we value you opinion greatly and love and appreciate what you’ve created here.
Keep your head up mate.

If thiago is fit. Properly fit it should be Hendon gini and thiago. Who to partner gomez is a tricky one. Jesus is a tricky striker and kdb will try to cut us with though balls so maybe young rhys Williams as he seems to have a bit more pace and can read the offside trap more. City aren't going to throw balls in the box to be headed away. Flipside is that city set pieces would be more dangerous without Phillips at cb. I personally think jota keeps his place as the pace of those 3 will make city think twice about attacking too aggressively. Oh and if no thiago then milly comes in IMO.

To be fair he wasn't tested defensively. The one time he was Zapata fella got in behind but Gomez covered for him and followed the run. Mind you Zapata still got his shot away and was unlucky not to score. The thing with Rhys is although he might be comfortable on the ball, he is painfully slow and if he does get caught out which he will as he is still learning the game. He just doesn't have the recovery pace to get back.

It's a great headache to have.

The way Jota is playing will only inspire Salah, Mane, an Firmino to perform even better (especially Salah as if Jota scored 40 goals I know he's the kind of guy who wants 41 😁) .

The competition will do Firmino good an he's not the type of guy to sulk but knuckle down.

It's a long season an people should be showing Bobby a bit more appreciation. He's going to play a huge part this season, as will Jota, so you don't need to be in 1 camp or the other.

I absolutely love both, top ballers, we're blessed to have so many quality players right now.

Klopp has already said that Bobby's going to start Sunday. Usual front 3, his midfield will be Hendo, Gini, Milner. Only decision is whether he throws Matip straight back in.

Ed1, just take pride in knowing you know more about football than anybody else on this site, that says it all for me. Your opinion is valued by most mate because you know what you're talking about. Keep up the great work, everything you do on here is massively appreciated. Thank you!

{Ed001's Note - I am not so sure about that but thank you. I do appreciate you saying it.}

The way i see it is we had a world class front 3 and now we have 4 players who can continue to make the front 3 world class. And when i say world class that isn't me saying Jota is world class after 4 games. What I'm saying is the front 3 as a unit are world class. When one used to drop out the standard clearly dropped. However with Jota playing last night i honestly believe we raised the bar again to what it was before lockdown or even longer. Mane and Salah were our go to men for goals and Bobby chips in but Jota seems to be bubbling with confidence at the moment so hopefully he keeps scoring and takes some of the pressure off Mane and Salah. Either way this is probably the best squad we've had in over 30 odd years.

Well said salah.

Ed01, I for one, value your insight and opinion on football matters esp on a tactical and schematic level. I have learnt so much from you over the years that now when I watch footie, I see things I could not see before and am able to figure things out much easier cos I now know what to look for tactically during games. Can we disagree? Of course but that is where it ends for me. Pls, continue to post your thoughts cos at least you are doing a huge service to this guy right here. YNWA!

{Ed001's Note - I will still be posting articles.}

04 Nov 2020 17:29:09
Ed001, we value your opinion greatly. Your reviews and insights on games/ players are the only one I pay attention to. So please ignore anyone who doesn't agree.

{Ed001's Note - it's not that people disagree as such, it is just that I can't be doing with the ridiculous overreactions to every result. I am tired of it after nearly 20 years of doing the sites, I just need a bit of a rest. And then there is the ones who disagree who just jump on anyone who agrees and call them sheep or other names, rather than actually putting together a cogent argument on why they shouldn't agree. Also taking a break from here might actually allow me to catch up a bit on the huge backlog of articles I have!}

Dito jingles.

How does anyone know that Chelsea wouldn't have beaten us without Gerrard slipping?

05 Nov 2020 00:38:12
We don’t know that at all Robbie but the slip changed the momentum of the game in their favour and contributed to the final result. I’m not bashing Stevie it was just unfortunate it happened at that time but it had a lot to do with us not getting at least a point that day.
Sorry Ed1 it’s just a real bugbear of mine when people talk about us not winning the league because of what happened at Palace. We could’ve won that game 5-0 and still come 2nd on goal difference so after going 3-0 up it was absolutely right to push for as many goals as we could to give ourselves a chance of the title.
A point against Chelsea was what we needed, after that defeat it put City in the driving seat because of their far superior goal difference.
