I'm not sure why there's such uproar and indignation at the possibility of selling Firmino next Summer.
There's the chance that we could need two first team starters over the upcoming two transfer windows. At centre back and in midfield to replace Wijnaldum, who presumably will leave on a free transfer.
Given that finances are again going to be much reduced, we might have to sell big to buy big.
We've seen the difficulty in trying to sell squad players if you like, so it might mean a change in the first XI personnel.
The only real place in the team with sufficient value and opportunity to change is the forward line.
I don't like the idea of it but I could see it happening for the greater good. Mane or Salah could move but, out of the three musketeers, I'd rather it were Firmino.
However it's going to a long and difficult season so we'll see what transpires.

{Ed025's Note - as ED002 keeps telling us juicer the players are just transient employees, there is very little loyalty in the game these days and players will do whats best for them and their bank balances in the main, we fans think they as loyal as us but thats very rarely the case mate but the game and the clubs move on..

I'm sure a lot of players move for the money but if I recall correctly one of the Eds saying Bobby told Coutinho he was mad to leave Liverpool when all that was dragging on. He strikes me as pretty loyal guy. I know you don't rate him ed25 but he's a special player.

{Ed025's Note - its not that i dont rate him RTID, hes a good player who works his socks off and is an asset to the team, for me his finishing is poor and his effect on the team has been diminishing for a while now, maybe a rest would do him good and the jota effect could spur him on to better things mate..

The one thing that I feel makes it hard to see firmino moving on next summer is the fact that his style of play is not one that all of the big sides will want in an attacker. He suits us so well that his market value that we rate him at would be higher than his value to other clubs. He's not a striker that guarantees to be prolific and deadly that teams will want for that kind of large fee. He's not young and realistically will only play at a high level for the length of a 4year contract. He's not running short on his deal with us, klopp adores him, he looks happy and settled with his Brazilian mates and front 3 partners also. We would not let him go for cheap so I can't see what club could take him next year by spending the money and then tempting him to leave us while klopp is content to see him move on. Madrid and Barcelona fans would never appreciate him from day 1, Bayern won't need to spend wildly when lewandowski and Muller still doing the business. PSG or Italian clubs would be a step down and I just don't see many clubs who are in the market for a hard working, selfless player who doesn't stand out as marquee name for the money we would demand. We never let any squad players go for less than a good deal so no chance we're going to let go of a key player who plays nearly every single game.

How about we just keep him then and be rotated as part of a brilliant front four! Also we are likely to lose one of Salah or Mane soon so he can play with Jota. He doesn’t have blistering pace so his game is suited to someone entering his 30s. I’d rather we had these brilliant squad options than the drop off to the likes of Origi personally.

{Ed025's Note - im with you mate..

Isn't Thiago meant to be Gini's replacement?

07 Nov 2020 08:58:48
OMG where is all this rubbish coming from. Is this the same Bobby who scored the winner the other week, have all the fickle fans got a new toy? If you want Bobby sold or dropped you must be a glory hunter and not a proper scouser.

Isn’t it actually nice to know that after our first choice front three, there isn’t a massive drop off in quality? That we have good options in reserve? Jota will be pushing all three of our first choice front three. Really good player there and will prove to be a good signing.

We have great squad depth now. Yes I agree my world class status’s can be argued against but it’s only my opinion.
Gk - world class. Back up - decent but can be erratic
Rb - world class. Back up - promising youngster
Lb- world class. Back up - can’t really comment but apparently has good calibre.
Centre half’s - 1 world class. 1 very good young international who will get better. 1 Who is good but can’t stay fit and then Phillips and Williams who have a chance to impress
Midfield - we have something like 8 midfielders for 3 positions and some of those are world class or outstanding in what they do.
Forwards - Mo and Mane world class. Mo- Mane- Bobby together are a world class front 3. Add Jota into that as well as an option and things couldn’t be brighter.
Only position we are currently short at is Centre half but that’s due to injuries which is unforeseen. This is the best squad we have had in over 30 odd years.
If anyone has time go back and look at Klopps first squad when he arrived. It’s absolutely mental the transformation he has taken us on.

You're saying Bobby isn't a wortld class player in his own right jk? Oh, he definitely is mate.

{Ed025's Note - but you think every player that has ever wore the liverpool shirt is world class robbie..

07 Nov 2020 23:54:17
Personally, I don’t know where all this rubbish is coming from as to whether he should be sold or not just cos he is having a hard time in front of goal? I can understand why rival fans are whinding certain of our fans up about Bobbie (yeah, like they really want him to start scoring again, lol) but don’t understand all this stuff.

IMO, I just think it is fans seeing a shiny new toy in Jota and instead of just being happy with a top player bring added to the rotation to help out the front three (something we have been crying about for years), some are now turning one one of our stalwarts who helped push us to where we are now for the sake of the new toy. I find it disappointing, really.

Agreed RM. Wholeheartedly.

Maybe I get carried away now and then ed025, although for me hendo is now a wc cm, jota has to potential to become wc, and Bobby definitely is a world class footballer.

Van djike was asked, who was the best player he ever played with and he said firmino. I'll take his opinion on this, as they azctually play football together.

{Ed025's Note - to be fair to VVD he only had a liverpool player to pick from as he will hardly pick someone from celtic or southampton robbie, hendo has turned into a very good player and an excellent skipper but for me world class means that in a few years will we be lauding him up and saying "remember jordan henderson"..i think he falls short of that and so does bobby, but its subjective i suppose mate so maybe every player at liverpool is world class?..
