I thought I'd compare last season to this season purely based on results.

So far we dropped points to villa, last year we beat them but could argue its the equivalent to losing to Watford.

We have drawn with Everton away, same as last season.

We have drawn with city away, we lost away to them last season.

My point is we are tracking similar to last season the only difference is the order of the games. So whilst id prefer to win I am happy enough with the draw yesterday and on to the next.

Wyred this season was always going to be harder and for a number of reasons. The main one would be to defend a title has always proven to be more difficult than winning it in the first place and that’s a proven fact when you look back at how many teams have actually achieved this. Another reason is the current climate of what is happening in the world. No crowds, games coming thick and fast and players probably not being able to enjoy their down time like they have In the past due to rules and regulations. Then throw in on top of that the amount of injuries we’ve had already this season. We are in a terrific place currently with Thiago and Fab due back after this international break. Add to that Mane and Mo still scoring for fun and Jota stepping up. Shaq seems to have been given a lifeline and Phillips has been given a premier league debut after all these years so that’s an amazing feat for him. This season going to be a rollercoaster but I for one am loving it. You’ll always get the fans who think they are better fans than the next and the ones who need to change their Ta##ons if you dare share a different opinion to them.

Yeah, very good points wyred. I'm pleased too. Last season people said we didn't play that well but found a way to win. After we'd done it for 25 games they started to say how brilliant we were! Feels similar this season.

Nah jk, I'd say winning the title is way harder than retaining it. Ask Everton, wolves, villa, Leeds. If you are trying to retain the title that suggests you have a squad capable of actually winning it in the first place. It's simple logic, of course.

We've been so intense for two/ three seasons, and with not much pre season that makes a difference but its the same for all.

I think if we can get Thiago fit and keep the rest of the squad rotating and playing we will win the league comfortably again. Leicester will be an interesting barometer though.

We were always going to have a drop off this season because the standard we set last season was just so high. It’s just that we as fans got so used to winning week in week out last season that the draws and defeats now seem like the end of the world.
In reality the first 26 games of last season were a freak, never achieved before by anyone and probably never will be again.
Losing and drawing occasionally is perfectly normal as long as we end up with more points than anyone else come the end of the season which I think we will.

If we had lost 1-0 to Villa instead of 7-2 i don't think anyone would be feeling soggy this season.

Rather lose 7-2 to villa than any if our main rivals. Imagine losing 7 2 to united or city id feel sick to my stomach. And at least it weren't at home.

We can all have our opinions and to me it's really simple, the question is can we do what we did last season and win the league again? My answer would be a huge yes! I do believe we'll win the league, by quite a lot again as well.

I'm also happy with a point against city, i thought we'd of beat them but no problem, a point is a point against the second best team in England, I'll take that.

I feel like we are finally starting to look ourselves again, I think we'll go on to dominate.

Leicester do worry me though, fingers crossed for the win.

I think keeping Henderson fit is far more important than getting Thiago fit.

Oh without doubt rover. Like a car, thiago is the full spec, Hendo is the engine.

Spot on, WYred and JK23. This is going to be a dog fight of a season and whoever wins the title would have thoroughly deserved it due to the insane conditions under which it is being played out. As for us, we are in a very good position regardless of all the issues we have had to deal with of late. We have Fab, Thiago to come back as well as Shaq and Matip and Jota improving so there is a lot to look forward to. One game at a time and all will be fine.

One other thing, I take offence to this notion that we did not play well for majority of last season and I fully disagree. IMO, I think we played well a lot of times but due to an inability to take full advantage of the chances we created, it looked like we were scraping thru games which was never the case if you watch the games themselves. Just thought I should point that out.

I agree to a point RM. We dominated 95% of games in all competitions. I think it's that we didn't play the same gung ho football of the season before when we were beating teams 4 or 5 nil every week. We had to as our defense was seriously shaky.

W definitely did not play as exciting last season. Even klopp was saying "where has my Liverpool gone? " but like I said, after 25 games of grinding out wins, it left no one in doubt that we were top dogs, so hard to beat.
