I personally think we should move for Declan Rice in January. Very good player who can play midfield and centre back. Would be great as short term centre back cover and a long term midfield option with Henderson, Wijnaldum and Milner all in their 30's now. I'm fairly sure he counts as home grown too. Alternatively, if Fabinho will be used at centre back for the season, Rice can play the holding midfield role and free up Henderson to play further forward.

Obviously Klopp will have his own solutions in mind. Just throwing out my opinion.

Not a bad suggestion at all MKS, if you're looking at it from a long term view. He's only 21 and he can give any team a good number of years of service given his recognized talent. But I doubt it would happen because he's not going to be cheap at all. Home grown players are going with hefty premiums (almost double it seems sometimes) . He'd cost north of 50 million and I don't see the urgency with Fabinho and Thiago in the team. We are not a free spending team and even less now than before because of the CV financial repercussions.

Yeah, good idea mk. Chelsea were linked in the summer but I guess they spent money elsewhere. I bet he'd be expensive though. Good player. And versatility is something klopp seems to like.

{Ed0666's Note - where’s all this money coming from to sign expensive shiny young toys?

If Uniteds quarterly accounts are anything to go by, LFC won't have any money for shiny toys for a while! The financially losses due to C.V. for one of the world's biggest commercial clubs puts it into perspective what Ed002 has been saying.

Personally think were better off praying Matip can stay fit and pair him with Fabinho for the premier league games. Let Hendo do the sìtting in the middle with Gini and Thiago ahead of him. For the rest of the Champions league games i would rest as many of the big hitters as needs a rest as i can't see any way we won't get out of that group now. Its all about the league between now and Jan. Rice in fairness is a very good player, but £50-60m for a player in this climate who would struggle to play in a few months is just not going to happen.

MKS and Robbie, are you guys serious? Chelsea wanted him at all costs as a CB and even they would not pay the 75m that WH was asking for so how are we going to afford another shiny new toy when we are penny-pinching due to the C.V.? Also, On the short term? There is no short term signing at 75m or even at 50m esp. if he is not better than the CB's we have out injured, IMO so that is a non starter, IMO.

I also don't think he is good enuff t CB or in midfield to suit the way play cos he plays in a very defensive system and that won't fly here, IMO. Nope, we have solutions in-house and we should use them.
