Real life isn’t fifa where you can practically play the same 11 week in week out.

Klopp knew tonight wasn’t a must win and picked a team that he thought would get the job done. Unfortunately it didn’t.

There is no disrespect or arrogance, we are down to bare bones and it needs switching every now and again.

Draw with Ajax next week and we are through, failing that beat midgetland and we are through. No drama on to the next.

A loss is not the end of the world, frustrating, yes, but Klopp will want a reaction Saturday.

Spot on, WYred. It was pretty much a dead-rubber game that allowed the manager to rotate players and keep them fresh for Brighton and Ajax. And Klopp knew we could of course, lose the game and not much would change in the group standings.

Changes are necessary but not so many in one important game. Had Liverpool won last night then Klopp would have been able to use all eligible Academy players in the last two Group games. Now he has top play a strong team against Ajax who are in fact a better team than Atalanta. I have no doubt that Liverpool will win the next two matches even though a point against Ajax will be enough. It annoys me that Liverpool lose any match but it makes my red blood boil when they lose matches that they should win.

{Ed001's Note - how are Ajax a better team than Atalanta? It is defo the other way around. It is not even close at the moment. Atalanta are one of the best sides in Europe, reaching the qtr finals last time round. They have been building under Gasperini for a long time now and have a better youth system than Ajax as well now. The only thing better about the current Ajax team is their history.}

Should have seen the 'banter' on the live chat last night. Embarrassing.

26 Nov 2020 10:21:34
Have you seen Ajax this season?

{Ed001's Note - oh god are you going to argue? Please know when to stop.}

Here's a stat for you i'm surprised the media haven't picked up on. We've lost 2 of our last 3 home CL games. I say we go all out against Ajax next week put the group to bed and rest players up for the away Danish game.

26 Nov 2020 11:35:31
I think our games next week is Tuesday evenin then Sunday which gives proper rest time. Last night was the dead rubber game. Pity to lose at home but such is life.

26 Nov 2020 12:12:09
Not sure whether we won or lost the CL last night. either way, we're in the race and we go again. no major injuries tonight is a bonus.

26 Nov 2020 12:13:28
Tuesday and then Wolves on Sat at 1500 mate. With games following on the wed then sat then wed then sat. Which leads us to the boxing day fixture where there is another 3 games in 8 days.

Sorry Mea Gan but you are very wrong.

Atalanta are an excellent side and are much better than Ajax.

26 Nov 2020 12:29:16
Ajax are nowhere near the quality of Atalanta. That much is clear since even last season into this season. If anyone thinks they are inferior to Ajax cos we pumped them 5-0 then you are fooling yourself. That was an anomaly and the way Atalanta set out that night, was surprising to quite a lot of people.

Funny how they did not do any of that last night cos they played the very same way I expected them to play and should have played in the first leg.

Had we played vs Atalanta the way we played vs Ajax, I think we get pummeled cos we did not play that well vs Ajax were lucky to get the win. Even Klopp said so after the game.

I think its hard to say who the better team is and i think it does a disservice to say one is better as let's be honest they are both very good teams. Last season Atalanta did very well in the CL and the Season before Ajax got to the Semi's. Yeah i appreciate Ajax have lost a few players since then but that happens every year and they seem to come again. You only have to look at their fixture v Atalanta to see it was a pretty even game. Ajax despite being away from home had more possession and similar shots on goal and 7 shots apiece on target. The game also finished 2-2. Atalanta impressed me last night and Ajax next week will be just as tough as a challenge. Last nights defeat has hopefully given us a little reminder and a kick up the backside.

Well said OP, I agree with every word. Every time we lose a game people absolutely lose their minds, it’s exhausting.

On the subject of bare bones is there any update on our injury list. Hendo and Shaq i know had niggles so are they in with a shout this weekend? Was Trent estimated at 4 weeks so he must only be a couple of weeks away plus add in Thiago to that. Also seen Ox has stepped up his training is there any time frame for him and have club released anything on Naby from weekend. Games are coming thick and fast so getting these players back will be extremely important.

I logged in to the live chat for the first time last night, one minute later logged out never to return again. Disgusted.
