Morning All

Here is a question for any of the Ed's.

Nothing has been mentioned recently but with Coutinho playing regularly now at Barcelona they must be close to paying another installment as part of the deal. Not suggesting that this will go towards funds for transfers as I know money is tight but surely that will be a nice bonus considering the year that the football club has had.

{Ed002's Note - There will be another payment due if he keeps playing - and that would be €5M.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Is he doing well redpathreds. The player who was world class with us, but rubbish since.

Said this before, but according to Barcelona's last accounts Liverpool had sold on the remaining Coutinho debt to a 3rd party. Accordingly I don't think we'll see any more from that deal, it will go to the company who now own the debt.

{Ed002's Note - The money goes to Liverpool who are responsible for paying any third parties. I know of only one case where the authorities stepped in to make sure funds were routed to the correct recipient.}

That's as maybe Ed002 - and I defer to your almighty power as always - but if anyone wants to check out Page 255 of Barca's 2018/ 19 accounts it clearly states "* Liverpool Football Club has sold its account receivable to a financial institution. "

Suggests to me that Liverpool have 'factored' the debt to try and get as much money as possible as early as possible when it looked like the player may not have managed to get that many games at Barcelona. The money may well come to us initially but I'm not convinced that we'll be keeping it.

It's actually sound business practice TBH.

Apols for the boring Finance stuff, us Accountants never have a day off ;-)

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, you don't understand. Liverpool factored the money but payments are still made to Liverpool who then have to pay the money on - they did not sell the money to a debt collector but sold the future sum to get cash up front - which they spent.}

TBH I just get frustrated by the constant headlines about extra funds coming from Barcelona - I'm 99% convinced it won't happen but the media bring it up every few months. If I'm right then I've done a better investigative job in 10mins than they've done in years.

Basically what I said Ed002 in slightly different terminology. Not looking for fisticuffs, just want to put to bed any thought that we'll generate any more transfer funding from Coutinho. As you say we took some funds early and now we'll be passing any money that Barcelona give us onto someone else - it won't go into the the Mbappe fund as a lot seem to think 😉.

{Ed002's Note - Right. Liverpool have just been accumulating debt. Next summer I am sure they will sell and make some changes.}

Hi Ed002 hope your ok? What sort of changes mate?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool need to start looking to the future and need to sell to buy - so they need to look perhaps at replacing the like of Salah if a buyer can be found with someone like Sarr or Traore who Klopp has the hots for, and I expect a CB and Goalkeeper.}

27 Nov 2020 21:15:10
But has Salah not put off potential buyers with his wage demands like he did with R. Madrid Ed?

{Ed002's Note - As I said, Liverpool’s issue will be finding buyers. They also need to think about squad management with HG and Club Developed players.}

27 Nov 2020 22:41:12
Ok gotcha mate thank you Ed002.

28 Nov 2020 00:28:44
Yep, that’s it. We’re going to sell Salah in order to buy Sarr. Ed, I know you try to wind people up on here but this is just blatant.

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure it will be easy to find a buyer for the likes of Salah.}

28 Nov 2020 14:52:02
Then it will b tough to sell Salah then if it is tough to find his replacement, I reckon.
