If Brighton players really thought it wasn't a pen then maybe they should have just passed it to Allison. I know that's easier to said than done. But the games gone!

Maybe the players need to embarrass the referees and the VAR muppets a few times so that they actually sort it out!

Yes we weren't fantastic but Jesus Christ, the officiating is pathetic!

In my opinion if it doesn’t look like a penalty in real speed then it can’t be a clear and obvious error and if an offside needs those stupid lines drawn in so much detail then the on field decision should stand. VAR is micro analyzing football and making it far less enjoyable.

Mr. T, are you as vociferous when Salah wins a peno for a slight touch? By the current rules it was a penalty and if it was the other way we would have been happy to win by two goals.
Once again we started off well and just died after 20 minutes.

Due to the current injuries Jurgen has to roll the dice with player selection and it's not going as planned over the last couple of games, but most teams will go through this at some stage of the season.

VAR is crap, especially when it's against us.

Completely agree with you Virgil. I don't think either incident today was a clear and obvious error and yet LFC have got the wrong end of both VAR decisions. It's hard to take.

As wretchedly implemented in the PL, VAR is a shambles. On the pen, both players go for the ball, both miss the ball and there is contact. What my prob is that Welbeck runs a couple of yards after that, goes down deliberately hence dived, and the VAR thinks it should be reviewed as a clear and obvious error?

If this the new rule now as I have never seen a pen given after the player went down well belatedly cos it seems they just make them up as we go on, then let it be applied equally and consistently. But I bet you it won’t.

I don't care if VAR is for us or against us. It needs dealing with for the good of the game.

If we're stuck with it they need to get a chip in the ball ASAP! Only then will we truly be able to accept these ridiculous offside rules. At the minute, some dude is just deciding when to pause the tape.

I would just scrap it. I don't mind if its kept for over the line decisions but everything else should be down to the ref.

Polecat, I disagree cos there is absolutely no law or rule in football that allows a striker after being contacted in the box, to run a few more yards, dive to get the ref’s attention and then a pen b awarded. None whatsoever so there goes your argument.

Secondly, none of what you said about Salah and his pen is true. He got clearly fouled and the ref awarded the pen on the spot and did not need VAR to change his mind. It only was made a big deal due to the media witch hunt on Salah for diving.

Third of all, how can you say it is the rule if the ref saw it and waved play on and no Brighton player appealed in real time? How is that a clear and obvious mistake by the ref under the above conditions under the VAR rule?

VAR to be used for offsides and it should be a players foot. vertical lines, armpits, t shirt lines etc are a joke. a players body leaning forward as a striker, a defenders body the opposite is perfectly natrual. VAR should be used on possible red card decsions, missed in the Brighton game. Penalty appeals, yes but all are supposed to be clear and obvious but many arent, and that's part of a massive problem. The equipment, used properly, should make the game better, not the joke its becoming but nobody is laughing.
