Good call. For me though Gini takes the MOM. I thought he was outstanding tonight.

Curtis for me. Everywhere and disciplined when he needed to cover at either CB or RB.

I also thought Fabhino had a good game in possession tonight, he was always looking to bring the ball out from the back, drawing players in thus creating space to start the attacks.

Just a minor observation.

{Ed0666's Note - I thought he was good on the whole but some of his decision making and challenges were suspect.

Young Kellegher MOTM 3 fantastic saves and clean sheet.

{Ed0666's Note - Not trying to piss on you’re chips mate but he was the best of a mediocre bunch. A lot of our lads had a bad day and the front 3 in Particular. Jota was abysmal. But I agree young Kellegher looked assured, confident, instilled calm and I truly hope he keeps his place until Ali gets better.

My chips are now very soggy Ed.

{Ed0666's Note - to be fair we did have 6 first team players out and I should be commending us for producing the goods. These are the high standards that Klopp sets that I expect a decimated team to play like world champions. So I retract what I said earlier and commend the lads for the performance as they have had to deal with so much crap already this season and have topped the group with a game to play. And a hearty congrats to our keeper as he oozed calm and confidence. Chips dry yet Barry?

Jota needs to get his head up. He's like Milan Baros at times.

{Ed0666's Note - he was atrocious today. We could have one by a landslide if his first touch and final ball were even working at 50%. It’s baffling as his touch is usually sublime.

Biggest take-away for me today was how Nico, Jones and Kelleher performed last night.

- A massive step up in performance levels for Nico and Jones in particular, which is to be hoped for after a few games to settle in, but it's still hugely encouraging to see how much more mature and assured they were.
- Jones in particular was aggressive, physical and intelligent in the press, and far more effective at bossing the midfield than I've ever seen him. It helped to have Gini and Hendo alongside him, but he was much more effective at dictating the game than I've ever seen him before at this level.
- Nico was again being targeted in attack, but made Neres look pretty average by the end, and looked more confident going forward as the game went on
- Kelleher was obviously the relative newbie of the 3 but still had a cracking game and deserved the clean sheet. It will have done his confidence a world of good. What a moment for the lad!

Brilliant result and great to see the young kids really doing well.

Great to see Kelleher playing well, cos at the rate we're going Alisson might be needed at center back when he's fit again.

02 Dec 2020 00:08:11
Fair play Ed0666 they're bone dry now👍.

{Ed0666's Note - I hope those chips are more appetizing for you now mate.

02 Dec 2020 06:43:49
ED0666 Jota is human mate.
We all have bad days at the office.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree mate he but he has set high standards. I can understand an errant performance but that was woeful and it’s my job to call it how it is so I am. He got the basics wrong time and time again last nite and we should have been home and dry much earlier.

02 Dec 2020 07:02:30
Milan Baros 😀, Jota's not that bad, he just hasn't mastered the art of passing a ball 10 yards yet 😁.

{Ed0666's Note - when he does well have some player on our hands.

02 Dec 2020 11:26:35
I wonder how close jota was to Jiminez? And I wonder if it had anything to do with it?

02 Dec 2020 08:57:34
Spot on, Ed0666. I thought Jota like vs Brighton, was poor. He is lethal in front of goal but his play outside of that, needs lots of work cos his touch, passing and decision-making last night was abysmal. Either way, he is still new here and has time to improve on these aspects of his game and if he keeps scoring goals, it will only help.

{Ed0666's Note - yes mate I’ll give him a pass as he’s been so good lately. In mitigation he’s played a tonne of games in a very short period of time. One things for sure it’s near enough impossible to be as bad as he was again so that’s a positive.
