Ed 01 you did player reviews on De Ligt and Upamecano previously. Have you seen anything in their development that has ironed out their flaws, particularly De Ligt. Which of the two (hypothetically) would suit the way we play more?

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen much of either but de Ligt is not a defender from what I have seen in the past. He is a midfielder playing at the back and struggles with the defensive side of things.}

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate, sorry I can't help more as I have just not had time to watch as much football as usual from other leagues. With all the Prem games being spread out so much, I tend to end up watching those if I am watching a game. With the lack of atmosphere at games and VAR, it is difficult to be bothered to get round to even watching all of them, let alone games between teams that are unrelated to Liverpool.}

Well De Ligt had a shoulder injury at the end of last campaign which required surgery, I think Tris so, you wouldn't have been able to see too much of him since the beginning of this season.


The thing with both Upamecano and De Ligt that makes me a little unsure is that both of them rely a bit too much on their physicality rather than defensive abilities to stand out. Both aren't great defenders imo.

I am not saying they are incapable defenders just that they still have a lot of holes in their defensive attributes which they might be able to learn an+ improve with more game time and experience.

Both of them are still super young yet still very physically developed. No wonder they are so reliant on physical attributes considering very few "older" players can out match them physically so they could easily get through games at youth and lower levels without having to learn those nitty gritty defensive skills.
