Table def makes for good viewing tbh alright Mike, is it weird I'd like Everton to do well this season? Like the idea of us both at the top, in that order of course.

You'd like the team of dirty sods who put two of the best players in Europe out for months to do well?

27 Dec 2020 01:48:49
Bill - Yes, it is weird you’d like Everton to do well. Not only did they inflict various assaults on a number of our key players earlier in the season, they are also our local rivals. Typically, we tend not to hope for the success of such teams.

What is it with some of our fans? Has the recent success made them completely benevolent and charitable or something? First I’m reading about how we should make a song for Rashford and sing it for 90 minutes throughout our game with Man Utd, and now I’m seeing that some people want Everton to do well?

{Ed025's Note - i was talking to the grinch the other day and he asked me if i had seen anything of that miserable sod lowel.. :)

Lads easy, local rivals yeah and I obv want us to be above them but just think it looks great for the City. Maybe cos my bro in law a Toffee too clouds my judgement but just like us being the top two.

Also I'd add, I'm old enough to remember fans all sitting together during the Merseyside Derby, as a city we used to do the derby and local rivalry with a real touch of class. Unfortunately these days is just not like that, is it wrong to want the touch of class back. As a city we were better than others.

{Ed025's Note - your spot on bill, the wembley finals i the 80.s were total class (even though we lost) and are my favourite moments in sport as a supporter, unfortunately for them the supporters of today will never get that feeling, travelling on the trains red and blue alike, singing in the pubs together and just having a great time as a city embracing the moment, they would rather have a fight now or shout abuse at each other, it has become very toxic these days and its the reason i have not attended a derby for a number of years, their loss i would say mate..

I want Everton relegated and then gone into administration.
I used to feel sorry for that bang average club once upon a time, but after what they did to VVD and Thiago, they should cease to exist.

27 Dec 2020 10:32:00
Great reply Bill.

27 Dec 2020 11:37:04
Why wouldn’t you want Everton to do well? Rivalry and banter is what makes the sport great.
So there would be nothing better than seeing Everton come second after us, the closer the better.

27 Dec 2020 11:40:25
Two players or even two bad tackles from two of their players doesn't define Everton.

27 Dec 2020 11:49:34
I personally think it all comes down to where you’re from. Liverpool have over 100 million fans worldwide and while I’m not saying who’s the better fan I would imagine the local fans might feel differently. Everton are a derby but to a lot of fans that’s just a word and Everton are just another team, to the fans born in Liverpool that probably means their closest friends and even family members are toffees. For me a lot of my close friends are Spurs fans so whenever we play them it feels like a derby to me (I know it’s not) .

27 Dec 2020 12:25:29
Not feeling the most charitable to them this year given Virgil's situation, but I think it is good for the rivalry that both are doing well. They could steal a spot in the top four and I won't be too displeased - no worse than watching United get one. (I threw up in my mouth when I wrote it)

27 Dec 2020 13:09:21
But can the older fans not show the younger ones how it should be? Or are we gone way past that? If we are gone way past that point well then it is very sad indeed. I remember in Ireland as a very young Liverpool supporter being so so proud watching the blues and reds walk up Wembley way side by side and Brian Moore saying you wouldn't get that with any other rival fan's anywhere in any country.

27 Dec 2020 14:10:29
I thought the blues where supposed to be the bitter ones? Lol.

27 Dec 2020 14:45:49
They are Miley. It’s not the red side that goes out to intentionally injure players and then shows no remorse and even cheers about it.

It’s the blue side that have created the animosity because of their bitterness towards our success. I’m always reminded how I’m a typical kopite who won’t take responsibility for anything (harking back to Hysel and Hillborough) . Pretty low if you ask me but then I wouldn’t expect anything less from the bitter blues.

As for them being successful? Who cares? The people’s club has sold its soul to the devil and will get exactly what it deserves whatever that may be.

I’m just going to keep supporting my team like I always have and enjoy this group of players and manager while we have them.

I agree Irish. all what's wrong with the game now.

27 Dec 2020 16:19:46
When do kids ever listen to adults these days Barry? Sure they know it all 🤣🤣.

Very very true Irish.

I see nothing wrong with wanting Everton to do well. Though I guess it is how you perceive 'well'. Obviously I don't want them winning any trophies, but it would be good to have them challenging us. My whole family is either red or blue, split 50/ 50,my dad is a die hard toffee, so I used to enjoy the banter when both teams were challenging. I have no hatred towards Everton and don't understand fans who do, its sad that it has become so poisonous.
