so we go into Sunday sitting second and facing a team who keep doing what we did last season - finding a way to win.

Unless we start improving our play we will get nothing out of the game. We are almost half way through the league programme, and have won less games than Everton now.

it's probably too late to bring in any new CBs before the weekend, so we will still be severely weakened in terms of personnel, and team formation.

I am thinking that we won't get much out of this season with the situation we find ourselves, but I guess it will still be a fun ride.

Hendo will play as a cb, am sure he will do well. That leaves one place up for grabs in midfield, my choice is Milner. Meaning Shaq can come on for the last 30 minutes. I just think Jones has really struggled the last few games.

One thing is for sure Sunday. Man U will get a penalty.

Lots of teams have been top this season
I think everyone knows utd will always get way more
Coverage than most so this is normal

As for Liverpool I do believe they have a much
Better chance at the champions league an fa cup
More so than the league
I don’t think they are with it this season - too many draws
And lacklustre performances
Yes they r still in it of course but I can’t see the performance
Improving week in an week out in order to win this leahuw.

I’d play Philips. Hendo at cb just nullifies Trent! I don’t agree weakening the mid more!

The glaringly huge difference between us last year and Utd this year is that we were and still are a much, much, much better side than they are with an infinitely better manager.
Yes they’ve managed to get on a run and hit the top but they will falter whereas we are where we are despite the injuries and poor form recently.
We will get better and they will implode. They are not our main rivals despite the media trying to make it so.

I haven't felt so apprehensive going into a derby for a long time.
It feels like we're playing the better team this time round.

As quick as the tide can turn against you, it can turn in your favour.
So I'm hoping this game is the turning point.

We missed Hendo too much in the midfield against Southampton imo. I'd go for Phillips at CB - with Thiago; Hendo and Jones in midfield.

We've really left ourselves open in defense, no one could predict both van Dijk and Gomez would be ruled out for most of the season, but everyone could see that relying on Matip to stay fit for the entire season was optimistic at best.

I don't think we'll buy anyone this month, and if we can't get a CB who offers stern competition going forward it isn't worth it.

Not Jones he has been struggling for me recently. Wijnaldum is a MUST.

Jay dub enjoy reading your posts mate but not sure how Hendo nullifies Trent. I love Trent but we have to admit he’s been off the boil and not to last season standards this season whether he has been next to Gomez, Matip, Williams or Phillips.

OP, we may not even be 4th by the time we play Utd if results go against us before hand. For me, a CB should play next to Fab regardless of who it is cos Hendo, Thiago and Gini in midfield could n where the game is won. We need our best players in their best positions for the most part cos clearly per the Saints game, Hendo at CB did not work. Trent also needs to come firing and what better way to have your coming out party than against the team you grew up despising your whole life. Let’s go!

Agreed SHughes55.

Jk I don’t mean he nullifies him! it nullifies trents play when Trent and goes forward watch how hendo sort of slots into rb it’s brilliant! But hendo can’t do that as a cb and Trent doesn’t seem to go forward like we seen with the Southampton game! Hope that makes sense pal?

Jay dub. Excellent point mate. Hendo does do that. But I’d also say this season when Hendo has been doing it Trent still not been firing. Perhaps we might see Milner start on Sunday to do just that if Hendo is in at centre half.
