“[Klopp] does not like losing, he never has. He gets prickly. But he is wrong to suggest there is an aura around United that sees them given favourable decisions, ” he continued.

“There used to be when Fergie was there, but that has eased massively since he left.

“I am the only referee to give three penalties to the opposition at Old Trafford, and that was for Liverpool, of all teams, in 2014.

“But David Moyes was manager – I’m not sure that would have happened when Fergie was there! ”

Mark Clattenburg just admitted that in an interview.

Surely this should be getting investigated?

Did he really say that?

14 Jan 2021 21:51:57
Jay Dub Red, yes he did. The guy’s arrogance and hubris was laid bare in the quotes posted by the OP. In his bid to try and lecture Klopp, he exposed his own callousness and bias that was on show thru out his mediocre at best, officiating career.

He literally said that even tho all three penalties were penalties, he would not have awarded them to LFC had Fergie been there which begs the question: How many pens did the opposing teams deserve at OT that he did not give to them cos Fergie was on the dugout?

Are you surprised?

14 Jan 2021 21:41:31
The man's a wally and just seeking attention ahead of one of the biggest games of the season.

14 Jan 2021 22:13:03
Surely that’s to be investigated?

14 Jan 2021 22:01:47
Fergie and United were cheats.

{Ed025's Note - all clubs, managers and players will cheat if they think they can get away with tommy...and liverpool are very much included in that mate..

14 Jan 2021 22:35:21
There is nobody on this forum that hasn’t cheated, and most more that once😉.

{Ed025's Note - i hope your not counting me in that mark?, im an upstanding citizen and a champion of truth and justice...like superman in an everton shirt.. :)

14 Jan 2021 22:35:02
How very dare you ed25!

{Ed025's Note - how very dare i tell the truth hopeful?... thats my bag mate.. :)

14 Jan 2021 22:59:28
Investigated? Then what, go through the history books and null and void? As mentioned, just grabbing some headlines, wouldn't surprise me if he pops up on some sports channel doing analysis of the game somewhere.

14 Jan 2021 23:17:50
If United hadn’t been awarded a single penalty this season they’d be joint 2nd a point behind Liverpool.

If Liverpool hadn’t been awarded awarded a single penalty this season they’d be level on points with 10th place West Ham.

We need to stop coming up with excuses regarding other teams. We are only behind Utd because we didn’t get the job done against, Villa, Everton, Brighton, Fulham, Newcastle, Wba and Southampton nothing to do with Utd and decisions.

You can either have results or excuses. Not both.

{Ed0666's Note - wow loving the insight mate.

14 Jan 2021 23:53:46
There is no tone in text.
Probably said it tongue in cheek.
He gave us more than our fair share of decisions v Man U and Everton.

15 Jan 2021 00:24:55
If Superman wore an Everton shirt they would still finish behind Liverpool 😄.

15 Jan 2021 04:03:16
About right mark, hardly surprising.

15 Jan 2021 00:49:11
No stuie, one can't change the past in the current situation, but can always change the future. And Ed I agree everyone cheats and will keep cheating. We are not better with tapping players, but we are not changing the outcomes of matches and league positions like referees can. It is what it is I guess.

{Ed025's Note - i think people are making a mountain out of mole hill marto, they are seeing mistakes as cheating and there seems a lot of paranoia by the conspiracy theorists mate..

15 Jan 2021 07:51:31
Subconscious bias. Good luck investigating that.

15 Jan 2021 08:24:22
The thread started with what Clattenburg said. Not sure how we got to investigations, excuses, LFC fans crying about decisions not going their way etc. Let’s stay on topic, pls.

Clattenberg is not giving us here. We all knew he was a joke of a ref and the only thing worse than a joke ref is an arrogant joke of a ref which Clattenberg has always been. And we all knew he was terrified of Fergie but now that Fergie is gone, he has found his spine and his voice to try to lecture others about a topic he was dreadful at as in, officiating. Self awareness is clearly not his strength. That’s all I am saying and nothing more.

As for all the other stuff about where Utd or LFC would b without pens or investigations or excuses, that’s all white noise that need not be entertained in any debate, IMO.

Redmeister good to see you’re still based in your Ivory Tower despite the name change 🤦🏻‍♂️.

15 Jan 2021 12:57:29
Maybe Ed. I might of overreacted, but it is just sad that referee admits to be doing that while saf was there. Everybody was feeling something was odd back then and now it comes out of a referee mouth. I used to respect saf big time for all his success and respect he was given by his team, but he fell down a lot into my eyes now.

{Ed002's Note - There was far worse from Clattenburg in relation to a game between Spurs and Chelsea in 2016 that eventually caused a huge problem for The FA.}

15 Jan 2021 13:14:01
The pitty thing is, it's not getting any better.

15 Jan 2021 13:43:34
JK23, whatever bro.

15 Jan 2021 14:46:28
I really don't see the issue? Is it any different to Klopp coming out and moaning about the number of pens United have had? He is purposely saying that to try and make the ref think twice on the day. Every manager does it and we are no different. SAF didn't win all those titles on the back of dodgy decisions.
