Fair play to the two lad's in defence who are playing out of position but what we need are goals and I haven't a clue where they are going to come from.

Spot on Barry, for all my moaning regarding the situation, they played well today, defences were on top.

Where is our next win coming from though? We look like we have lost the joy in ripping teams too bits and that's the worrying thing .
Bobby been getting away with the fake 9 thing for a while and 1 of the 3 used to bail us out but they all look shot.

The key to it all is getting Matip back in defence with fabinho, then Henderson back in midfield. We are currently playing a patched up defence, which in turn has now seriously impacted the midfield and ultimately the forward line.
Robbo and Trent are not getting forward as much, due to concerns for the makeshift defence and midfield, so the understanding with the forwards has been lost. The whole team is short on confidence.

I have no worries whatsoever about our forwards as Mane and Salah are world class. I know it's a cliche but 'form is temporary, class is permanent' and those 2 will be scoring and assisting soon enough.

As for the game, it was'nt great but I was sure Utd were going to score against our patched up defence, so a good point earned in my view. Could have been worse if Utd showed more ambition rather than just counter attacks.
As I said, without Matip giving us a stable defensive partnership with Fabinho, we will continue to struggle as a whole team.

Bobby's a poor man's son. Glad he's getting found out.

I don’t buy this, Greenflash, but I’ll happily be proven wrong. I’m seeing Robbo, Trent and the forwards getting into the same types of positions. They’re just not executing. Robbo in particular had some great positions today but scuffed one cross into the side netting when it was begging for a quality ball across the six yard box, skied another one with a rash shot and wasn’t played in by Firmino for arguably the best chance of the three.

That’s nothing to do with our centre backs or what position Henderson is playing.

Greenflash. Hendo played in midfield against Wba and Newcastle. If that’s the key what went wrong in those games mate?

Most posters worried about the defence but it is the forwards that are costing us points almost every game recently. Fabs has been brilliant this season.

If matip is fit I’d play him and Philips v Burnley. Our Fabinho back in midfield. Their attack is the slowest in the planet and Philips is great in the air.

JK23, Liverpool are simply going through a bad patch due to key injuries, as shown by the WBA and Newcastle results you mention.

Look at Liverpools results over the last 3 years with Hendo in midfield and a settled back 4, rather than select 2 games over the xmas period.
I would prefer to see Hendo in midfield and Matip in defence, which is their natural positions.

West Brom equalised after Matip went off injured, but I accept the front 3 are not firing at the moment, but it won't last. let's see how many goals Salah and Mane score once the side is more settled again.

Put it into perspective, would any Liverpool fan swap Salah and Mane for any other forwards in the premier league, as I definitely would not.
This criticism of the front 3 will soon be forgotten when they start scoring, then all the posts will be swooning over how world class and irreplacable our forwards are.
We need a settled back 4 and players in their correct positions, and the results will follow.

Greenflash I 100% want to see Hendo back in midfield with Fab. But I don’t see how Hendo and fab in midfield improve Salah and Manes confidence. And they won’t improve Bobby's goal numbers. I don’t have to pick 2 games you can see that over the last 3 seasons mate.

RR is correct here. We are getting into the same positions we are getting into offensively. We are just not making the right decisions; That was laid bare yesterday on MOTD where Shearer highlighted all the good positions we got into in the first half vs Utd BUT due to poor decision making and inability t make the required run or pass, is what cost us in those situations. The press was actually very good in the first half and we won the ball high on several occasions. It is execution that is killing us. As for the defence, we have one of the best defences in the PL this season so we CAN defend with VVD, Gomez and Matip out.

At this point, it is not going to matter who we have in midfield. If our strikers are short of confidence and cannot execute the game plan when the chances arrive then this is what you get.
