We’ve chucked it clearly. Every man and his dog knows we needed a CB In on January the 1st. It’s plain to see the players have given up after not signing one.
If nobody is arsed about this season from the club to the manager to the players, then why are we?

No way Phillips is a championship level centre back at best and Williams is even worse. I don't want to put them down but that is their level and playing together would be like the blind leading the blind and absolutely 0 pace. Disaster waiting to happen.

They were brilliant but the club are walking a tightrope in regards any success with not bringing a centre back in . We are missing the legs in midfield without them 2, if we just brought in 1 centre back it could free up hendo in midfield as Fabihno is actually just as good at the back.

I would be tempted to have Phillips alongside Henderson and get Fabinho next to Thiago, leave Thiago to play make and Fab to cover him, id like Jones to come back into the team now Thiago is fit and play alongside him, learn from him.

Get matip fit and let's have him and Phillips. Our midfield will dominate and the difference will be clear to see. Them two were good in defense yesterday considering how united front 3 are currently the best in the bbc/ sly sports world.

I want to see Hendo back in midfield and I also want to see Fab back there. The likelihood is Fabs is at centre back for the season. I think Hendo will be back in midfield sooner rather than later. 6 wins in our last 15 across all comps. 1 of those were against Villa kids. Hendo has only played at centre back for 2 of them. As much as Hendo is missed in the centre he’s been there for 13 of the last 15 and we still only won 6 of them. This isn’t a dig at Hendo I just don’t believe that once he goes back into midfield we will be blowing teams away again. Not until Salah and Mane sort their s##t out and Jota is back to help ease the scoring burden.

Philips and Williams don't have the smarts to play Rashford offsides, as often as Henderson and Fabinho did yesterday. The result would have been different if there had been a split second difference on all those offside calls. And as Ed001 has said in his review, I don't see Philips and Williams busting a gut to catch up after being caught out, as Henderson and Fabinho were routinely doing. What was notable was that we were unusually "short" on the set pieces (height wise) .

I'm hoping we're going through the usual once-a-season blip that the top teams go through. But I don't like reading that Klopp has said "top four is most important for Liverpool". Could be mind games or pressure release tactics, but still.
